LOL I can think of a couple more impressive athletes...
Anyways, the legend Deena Kastor set that American record in 2005. She remains the 8K American record holder today. Put some respect on her name
I know this was hyperbole and I am not certain if this has been pointed out in the 9 pages of replies, but it never hurts to recount that in 1935, Jesse Owens broke three world records and tied a fourth in the span of 45 minutes at a Big Ten track meet.
She's obviously training like a professional. That's a lot of time and effort. How is she supporting herself? Living with parents? Working a normal job? Sugar daddy?
Exactly. If "plenty of people" train like pros with full-time jobs, then why have pro running at all?
Love it. She's going to crush every American record from 1500 -10k when she returns, competing on pure anger for the BS "prosecution" and the braindead idiots that often comment here. 'Can't wait.
Nike paying a banned American Record holder is something no one would care about?
Banned from competition not banned from getting paid lol. You guys want her to have nothing to do? She's obviously staying in shape through the ban. What is the crime in using strava lol.
Correction: Shelby just ran "8K". GPS measurements don't count, especially on some small windy-ass loop with heavy tree cover. If they did everyone else's PRs would all be much faster too. If she wants to claim some "best" time there are plenty of measured road race courses out there she could run on.
Plus is she even being tested? If not you know she's not even bothering with the microdosing, she's just straight up maxing out the PEDs.
I am not her supporter by any means. I am 97% that she doped and 3% believe her story. But you gotta admit she is killing it. Her 10K race time is in line with this 8K. BTW, why the hell would she dope now? There is no logical or financial incentives. Actually dis-incentives to lengthen her ban. After she serves her ban and she does well, all good with me.

Agreed. I think pros have too much time on their hands. they need school or a job. see eg Muir, Hocker in school vs out, Justyn Knight. I think given how poorly pro running pays no N American should do it exclusively for more than a couple years post college. Grant should go transition to his lifetime career after Paris
More power to her, 4 years is two freakin long, esp for a first offense. There is rampant steroid use in the NFL and star player mark Ingram tested positive and was suspended for what??????????????? 4 freakin games, 1 quarter of 1 season, not 4 years. Last year 4 players suspended for steroids, 6 games 5 NFL stars who have been suspended for steroids (jefebet.com)
I hope Shelby comes back all the way and good for her, for keeping in shape and sharpe. Jan 2025 will be here and I hope she rejoins the world class running scene!
If she drops a sub-1:07 half I'll obviously have to change my mind but she's always looked built for middle-distance in comparison to her long-distance peers.
But I don't want to see her in road races and hoping the marathon majors reject her.
It is inevitable unfortunately she is going to OTQ for 2028
It took a long time for me to accept the case against her was real and serious and now just really disappointed as I was a fan. She's not winning me back with these shenanigans.
She doesn't need to win anyone back. Athletics isn't a popularity content. Like someone or hate them, it doesn't matter. When her ban is complete, she can come back and set as many records and make as many teams as she is capable (provided she continues to pass all drug tests). It's about what the human body is capable of (provided they are testing clean), not a popularity content.

Why dope now: to be able to maintain her hard workouts, to stay in shape, to set unofficial ARs and WRs, and last but least to keep her blood passport at her doper values.

its legit crazy that you even 3% believe her story.
People will hate watch her. She will compete in events with other athletes. The spectators will be there. She will receive a contract. Justin Gatlin came back just fine

If you are thinking that Justin Gatlin didn't lose money on being busted then you are fooling yourself. I'm sure his contract was less, his appearance fees were less. He didn't have as many fans as he would have if he were clean.
Is this run 4.9 miles or 8K? The strava data should have said 4.97+-, not "4.9". These programs know to include 100th's of a mile. The "missing" seven hundredths of a mile [from 4.9MI to 8K] would take 21 seconds to run at a 5:00 mile pace. So, does that mean she really ran 24:43 or so?

Wondering if she is doing stuff like this to invite testing. Not sure if it works this way, but with her 10k and 8k, is she essentially asking to be tested knowing she won't test positive at that time?
