Written by Gavin Struve, edits via Garrett Zatlin Earlier today, NC State announced that women's distance coach, Laurie Henes, is being promoted to the program's Director of Track & Field and Cross Country role starting this...
More times than not, she has enough spring left to pull away on the 3rd lap and not have company at the finish line.
Yes, "more times than not" the field of the Joe Schmoe Invitational is inferior to KT.
But when the entire field is very close in talent, like a championship race, frontrunning almost always leads to major fade over the final 180. This is why so many championship races crawl through 800-1200, no one wants to be the sacrificial lamb at the front. Leading in the heat at 3:56-3:57 pace for the first 400 and continuing in the front pushing doesn't leave a lot of room for "not having company at the finish line."
Hogwash, nothing more. With that field on an average day, she wins with average running tactics...no secret weapons needed. Running from the front is something she's done before. Do try to keep up ole' fella.
Tuohy not feeling well after the 1500 had nothing at all to do with her doubling because she didn't actually double.
Tuohy doesn't always have to double. Touhy likes to double.
Tuohy isn't interested in redshirting.
And Touhy and Henes have nothing to do with Cheserek.
Stop posting such nonsense.
I believe it is past your bedtime.
What a fool, not only for your first comment, but specially for the second one. No argument, so an adhominem to try to diminish what that accurate post destroying your ignorant post.
Katelyn Tuohy is always pushing for more, actually once wanted to triple, and Henes had to stop her. Henes doesn't push her to even double. Your ignorance and lack of knowledge is appalling. Just randomly commenting because Tuohy had a bad week, suddenly it's the coaches fault even though for 3 years Tuohy has been in constant progression, (despite Henes if we would listen to your ignorant comments), any reasonable person would see that her trainings and workload were appropriate. Maybe you should look for the weather in Austin that week (high temperatures) and a bad week which can unfortunately happen.

She's done it before.........against average or inferior opponents.
History shows leading at a strong pace in a competitively balanced field will result in the leader being spit out the back late. Hmmm, who led? Who was spit out the back? Why does no one want to lead the Olympics ? Why do Diamond League races have pacers?
"She's done it before". I forgot, how many NCAA 1500 titles does she have leading from step one? For that matter, how may men or women have NCAA, Olympic, and World 1500 titles leading from step one at record pace?
It's okay to read and potentially learn without posting if you really have no clue what you are spewing because it doesn't fit the pre-conceived narrative you embrace.
