Ever see LeBron play defense? He definitely can do so at a high level, however he definitely picks his spots - not just this year at his advanced age, but for several years now. He also shuts it down when a loss is the only realistic outcome.
Same with a QB who slides instead of fighting for a few more yards so as not to get clobbered - Mahomes is a master at this.
Lose a battle but win the war =/= "100% on every play"
