With Ingebrigtsen's boasting the word "hubris" comes to mind. But he is an example now of the age we live in. It is full of it.
You said absolute time matters more than %. Well I know a guy who got a 20 minute pr in the marathon. Is that the same as a 20 minute pr in the indoor 60? You lack the intelligence to be able to make statements really at all.
What I have said is that he isn't in contention for the "greatest runner who ever existed". He doesn't have the most global championship golds and he has no wr's over those distances. So much for your "intelligence".

For you, Komen's 3000m mark was the "most impossible record" (what a stupidity) in the book. More difficult to break than 1:40.91, 3:26.00, 12:35.36, 26:11.00, OK, Buffoonstrong?
Ingebrigtsen has broken this - for you - "most impossible record in the book" by 3.12 seconds.
Do you think he will break 12:40 in the 5000 when going for a fast time?
It was that kind of record, as it had lasted over a quarter of a century. But tell me how he's doing with the obviously much easier 1500/mile/5k/10k world records? They seem a lot harder for him. Beating Komen's mark does NOT make him the "greatest runner who ever existed". That's a title confined to his imagination and that of his fans so far.
No, it was not that kind of a record (only for you and a few others - but what do you say that he has broken "that kind of a record" by 3.12 seconds?).
The 1500m is harder for him for two reasons: it's the stronger mark compared to Komen's old record and he is better at 3000m than at 1500m.
But he is still young enough to challenge it, but I don't think he will get it. The Mile should be possible for him, but the distance it not raced very often. For the 5000m we have to wait because so far he hasn't hat a single time trial at the distance. Judging frim his 7:17.55, the record should be eminentely possible for him.
Nobody ever has said he is the greatest runner who ever existed. It's the only way for you to survive when proved to be wrong: changing the subject and arguing with yourself.
But he has a good chance TO BECOME the greatest runner in history. At age 24 he already is in the top 10 (or very close to it) all-time. With 10+ more possible years to come it's not unrealistic.

Shift those goal posts and set up a straw man while you do it. Have you even read the thread title and what it is based on, that it is his goal to become "the greatest runner who ever existed"? My response is that this will never happen until he wins more championship golds than anyone else and sets championship distance world records. He currently has none. You are merely hopeful for what you think he might achieve. It means nothing until he achieves it. Perhaps you have trouble distinguishing between the reality of the present and daydreams about the future?

You ARE arguing with yourself, Buffoonstrong. Nobody has ever said he IS the greatest runner in history. He want to become the greatest runner who ever existed - do you understand now? At the moment he isn't - and nobody has said he is.
But with all the stuff he already has done before the age od 24, he haa A VERY GOOD CHANCE to achieve his goal. Still long way to go, but he has a chance.
Really astonishing that such easy things have to be explained for you again and again.
What do you say to the fact that he has bettered the - for you - "most impossible record in the book" (what a nonsensical statement) by 3.12 seconds?

Perhaps I need to speak more SLOWLY. I haven't been disputing whether he is currently the greatest runner who ever existed, but whether he will achieve that goal, which he has expressly indicated is his ambition. This appears to be a distinction that is beyond you. What you think or hope he will achieve is purely imaginary; it hasn't happened and likely never will. Like his HM world record that he aspires to.

That's from one of your last posts of THOUSANDS about your Norwegian friend:

Nobody gas said otherwise, Dumbo. His imagination? Has he said he is? It's his goal - very ambitious, but possible.
I'm not a fan at all of him, but I'm very interested his career. Can he achieve his goal?

No.
Nothing is guaranteed in athletics. He can get injured and never run another race in his life. Or, if he is perfect up until the LA Olympics, winning the double and breaking the mile, 1500, and 5k records, he can go down as the greatest 1500-5000m runner in history. Only time will tell. Both sides of his fanbase here (Haters vs Disciples) can argue all they want, but we will only ever know at the end of his career.
He's dreaming big. What would have have to accomplish to become the GOAT?
“I love to compete and to collect medals. That is what drives me and other athletes. It is not only about the winning, it’s about winning time after time. My main goal is to become the best runner that ever existed. To do that, I will need to win more races and the next one is tomorrow.”

For sure he has a serious chance to do so - that you are praying day in day out that he will not is unimportant.
How do you rank his 7:17.55? The mark bettered the - by your ranking - "most impossible record in the book" by 3.12 seconds. Who will better that mark, and when?

You're the one doing the praying. He will need divine intervention. I'm not interested in one race that isn't either a championship final or a world record over a championship distance. The subject of the thread is his goal to be "the greatest runner who ever existed". Such a modest goal from such a modest athlete. Don't bank on it.

I don't. Not in any direction. I'm not a fan of him at all.
At his age, only very very few distance runners have achieved more - who? Probably Bekele and Gebrselassie. Who else?
Looking at the astonishing careers of those two, it's really extremely difficult to become the no. 1 distance runner ever. But his 1500m success seperates him from them and I would give him maybe a 20% chance to be successful with his goul.

How do you rank his chances?
If he can win a double at every championship until 2029 worlds, as well as breaks the 1500m, mile, and 5k records, he is the goat. This will put him at 4 oly golds and 8 wc golds. the 10k record would be a cherry on top.

You were interested enough to post extensively about it on several threads. Only now that your dumb prediction has been called out, and your ignorance exposed, are you suddenly "not interested". Your typical cowardly escape. But hey! 34,023!!!

His actual number of posts is much higher since just recently many very removed.
But I really would like to know the number of posts he did regarding his number one athlete Jakob Ingebrigtsen. Just this year I'm pretty sure it's well over 1000. And some distribution of the content in them:
- making fun about people who just try to talk seriously about his chances for some success
- that you can't give some runner some credit for things he/she yet hasn't achieved (what a great contribution)
- wrong predictions and so on
Which information regarding Ingebrigtsen has he contributed to the forum in all of his THOUSANDS of posts? I might be wrong, but I would strongly claim: nothing (anybody reading such threads already knows that he has lost three global 1500m (outdoor) finals in a row).

I have given my views. I'm not persuaded by yours. He isn't in contention for the humble goal of being the "greatest runner that ever existed" except to the child-like fantasists on these boards.

It is quite apparent that my posts matter to you or you wouldn't read them and respond to them. You can't let them go.
