i srsly think ON athletes are not paid enough... the amount of money they could get more from bigger brands is quite a lot i think
nike adidas new balance, and PUMA is the one who doesnt care spending lots of money
I know an agent who knows what a lot of the recent offers from sponsors have been, and ON pays a lot more than you think. ON outbid Nike and the other brands for the athletes on the current ON roster.
That might not last forever, but at least for now while ON is trying to build up a presence in the United States they are willing to over pay.
nike didnt bid high enough for them years before because they didnt know On runners would be this good... but now if you see how on athletes are doing now they could potentially be paid more with nike and adidas than they are with ON
What? Hunter had his college paid plus more money than he can ever spend. You are afraid to answer the what if question. What if she has a career ending injury tomorrow? What if she stagnates?
If she had a career ending injury tomorrow, I think she would mostly be crushed that her running career was over. It's a bummer to miss out on the money, but I think most elite runners are in love with the sport and the feeling of accomplishment.
Can people seriously get a life and let KT live hers? Yes if she gets abducted by aliens tomorrow I am sure she would most regret not turning pro immediately. LOL.

Yes, that's why you should always grease your clothes because it's harder for the aliens to hold on to you.
Ah.....really? Finally, a real thought provoking topic and you resort to insulting the posters. Nobody is showing up at her house telling her what to do. We are just discussing our opinions of what males sense for the highest profile athlete in the NCAA track and field. I don't understand your personal obsession with her. Hundreds of NCAA football and basketbsll players have entire segments on ESPN discussing if they should go pro. But no. You want track and field to be a niche sport that people are losing interest in because the elite athletes can't be discussed as athletes, only like someone's protected child.
She should go pro. But she won't because her ego is too big. She will milk it as long as possible before she is just another 14:45 type running somewhere off screen.
Wow! I get that you’re no fan…but why the hate? If you feel she’s that much over-hyped why get on this thread? Just to get a rise from people that follow her?

Additionally, claiming Tuohy’s ego is inflated is flying in the face of many facts, all pointing to her humility. She’s a leader and is in love with her sport. Natural leaders rarely know how much they’re inspiring others.

What most here don’t get is that Tuohy seeks a culture of mutual support and has found it at NCSt with coach Henes. Chasing the quick buck rarely coincides with these values. She can only thrive when she’s happy and stress is managed by the ecosystem of respect and attainable expectations. She’s turning 21 in a month and sounds like she’s graduating before the end of the year…we’ll know what her professional plans are in the coming months. Meanwhile she can add to her bouquet of titles/records while not rushing to embark on the next stage of her life. Her marketability will likely increase with each accomplishment and the money will still be there. Choosing the right environment for her run to the ‘24 trials is non-trivial and one of the most important decisions she still faces. For all we know she might have already decided. One thing is highly likely, she going to go where she already has trusted friends and perhaps a coach that she trusts. I still think Henes might sign on as a package deal to one of these organizations.
I remember when people wanted her to go pro in high school, which would have been a disaster. Happily she never even thought about it and instead chose a perfect situation at NCSt. The idea that people want her leave that behind prematurely is just plain shortsighted. Meanwhile she has a chance to build one of the all time great NCAA careers while patiently building towards the next stage of her career.
A disaster? Do you have a time machine or crystal ball? Maybe she would be running 8:20 and 14:30 by now. Nobody knows but you claim to.
She did not seem very good physically or mentally when she left hs. Getting into NC ST environment seemed to help a lot. Pro might have been a disaster.

It doesn’t take a crystal ball to see that even if she had turned pro after HS she could have burned out like Mary Cain; she wouldn’t have gotten a free education; and she possibly wouldn’t have been given a chance to heal properly after her knee operation. Now she’s building her brand to possibly leave college as the distance running GOAT, with the credentials to get invited to any exclusive race she desires. Additionally, due to the contacts and friends she’s made at NCSt, she has insights into what pro team might suit her best, when the time comes. All this is worth the unlikely possibility of experiencing a career ending injury. So far, all indications are, that she’s made the right career decisions. With her academic talents she’s likely setting herself up to do graduate work, either in the form of an MBA or some other type.
True. Might have are the keywords. A few rabid fans claim to know what her future holds and what any alternative present would have held also. But they hate anyone else making predictions. Only the chosen few are apparently allowed and qualified to discuss Tuohy.

It turned out for the positive, but Touhy wasn't fast enough leaving hs to turn pro.
In 2022 when she was at 4:06/15:14, it could have been considered.
In 2023 at 8:35, going pro becomes a realistic option. Hence, all this chatter.
Fortunately with nil, she is not forced to make any hasty decision.
She is turning 21. If she didn't plan to turn pro at some point and have decision points laud out, I am very disappointed. Therefore, I don't think it would be a hasty decision to turn pro now.
