There's a guy at my parkrun who ran without registering last week when the website specifically states that you need to register and bring a barcode to the race. Can someone alert Marathon Investigations? We don't even charge for this race, so a lawsuit would be catastrophic for us.

Is fair play also having someone follow you around on bike the whole race blasting music, randomly cutting through and cutting off spectators and other runners and disrupting others' races, just so you can get some footage? I'm surprised he didn't just run with his selfie stick. That crap should be an automatic DQ.
Most of the issue is with #2. It seems like some people think that since the answer to #1 is yes, there is no moral problem with #2. Lots of people think this way, about most things in their life. Since I think the rule is stupid, I can ignore it.
I think when you sign up for a race, no matter how stupid you think the rules are, you need to abide by them.
1) It would be nice but as long as they are clear at the time you register that you can't swap bibs and if you fail to race you lose your money I have no problem if the don't. Signing up for such a race is accepting that provision.
2) Absolutely not. If you can't swap bibs and you signed up you are out your registration. If you didn't sign up you don't get to run. It is never ok to bandit a race under any circumstances unless the organizers explicitly state the course is open to anyone, registered or not.
I have no problem at all with Derek exposing anyone and everyone that cheats in any way (cutting the course, using some non-running for of transportation, etc), bandits, or uses someone else's bib. There is no excuse for any of those things and anyone that dose them should be publicly exposed so everyone knows what they've done. It is a bonus if they have real world consequences like losing a job due to dishonesty. These kinds of things should cause lasting problems for you.
As annoying as Matt can be, I think he's honest and didn't mean any foul play. He trained hard and was going for a 2:50 PR. He certainly would've wanted his PR to officially be under his name.
Matt is 27 and the bib owner is age 30, so different age group.
If he was going for a PR, and a PR of 2:50 specifically; why is it that he ran not one mile at 2:50 pace? Not a single one. He started off near 6:59 ish and the fastest he got was maybe in the 6:30 range.
Seems odd to me that if you're going for a PR of 2:50 that you would start THAT conservative.
That was just his blabbing for his followers. That guy was not in shape to run 2:50. Someone of his size, he needs to be able to run at least 6 min pace for 1/2. No way he can do that.
I won't address each post, but my general argument is - we overspend.
Yes, understood, debts are already spent. That being said the democrats aren't going to agree to any reasonable cuts through legislation, or by some miracle something does make it through Congress, Joe Brandon would hit the veto button.
Debt ceiling is our chip, we play it. Not just play chicken for a few hours then give in.
We need to absolutely break their damn backs and cripple the will of the Democrats until they cave for meaningful spending cuts.
Great job by Marathon Investigations on this one. It seems to me like it’s a bad idea to document your entire race and all of the training leading up to it on social media if you’re going to wear someone else’s bib. But then again I’m not an Instagram influencer.

There was also zero chance that he was running 2:45 off the ~30mpw @ 9 minute pace that he does.
Says he forgot to register His friend was injured He tried to get the bib swapped to his name, but couldn't He has never even heard of bib muling - as he's such a neophyte babe in the woods Like what even is running, you know?
Our rules and ways are new and strange to him and poor frozen caveman runner just wanted to run

He probably didn't know it was a big deal or all the drama involving Derek's investigations of bib mulling and BQ, etc.. I still find him annoying but not for this.
It took him that long to come up with that weak ass "apology"? Apologize for your stupid ass camera man annoying tf out of anyone running near you during the whole marathon. I'm surprised one of them didn't tackle that mf'er off his god damned bike...
His apology is sincere. He completely and totally owns up to his mistake. He is very respectful to Marathon Investigation for calling him out. And finally, his explanation is reasonable.

He's repairing his brand. It's a smart pivot from ignoring the situation for 9 days.
His explanation defies credulity - for me anyways, ymmv - but it's water under the bridge at this point.
If he wants to educate people on the error in running BQ times in someone else's bibs, then why not? Go for it.
