Then have you reached out to the victim, his training partner or his father (all of whom can be messaged with info on here) to help him out after this dick move by the offender?? He was DQ'd already. All this "I would do this....I would do that" hot air is useless and plentiful on the boards. If you have the knowledge please suggest what you would do, or get a hold of someone and offer to help him, it would be pretty simple. Everyone is saying to 'sue' someone....have charges been filed? Is anyone planning on filing charges? Has anyone on here with specific legal knowledge offered to help 3rd place guy proceed with anything more? If anyone does, help the guy out.
Who's talking about legal? You seem upset by this? Related to the douchebag?
Checking a guy into a fence is deplorable. There is a suggestion on this 9th page about suing for assault, and also earlier in the thread. What are these specific ways the offender, "would be be dealt with in future races"? Put the ideas in a post or get in contact with the victim who was shoved, his training partner who posts earlier in this thread, or his father who posted a video on Twitter. I'm sure they would appreciate any and all suggestions on how to, "make a guy like this miserable."
I really can’t understand how the purpose of this move was anything other than 100% to take him out.
The manhole cover is BS.
originally I thought the victim helped him up but this other video show more of an aggressive posture and rightly so.
I was going to ignore the manhole comment but it is an exigent matter that I must address with prompt consideration.
There was and is a manhole.
This is not a conspiracy theory nor what some consider themselves in the zeitgeist call “Fake News.”
The manhole is there. That is a fact. Check the tape, call the race director, waste your time AND money (that you earned from your menial work that you call a career) and drive there yourself. Then, upon your arrival, apologize to me, for you will have been wrong in this instance.
Salvador here. I’ve had fun reading the thread but it’s not complete without my account of what happened.
First of all, I’m immensely proud of being a BIPOC Ivy League grad and the current work I do for the American people as a Senior Consultant at Booz.
Not to mention that all the while I have been training and have worked my way up to someone with potential for the Oly Trials Thon.
As far as the race was concerned, it was a strong race for me, and I was coming in FAST towards the finish line.
The tangent had me veering to my right, which I did, and unfortunately made contact with a slower runner behind me. After I finished yes I did stop my watch. I have a Strava reputation to uphold that needs the data from my specific watch.
As far as making contact with the runner behind me, if one refers to the rules of the road as it rates to vehicular travel, in the event of a collision, the vehicle behind is the one that is liable.
In this case, as the faster runner, I was in front, and the other runner was behind. Therefore he is at fault not me. That’s just me looking at the matter objectively. I personally do not fault the other runner nor am I upset with him and wish him the best in his running and in his life.
That is all and thank you for your time.
I have my doubts it is the runner in question but, if it is, you really are an idiot.

Unless the father would be capable of running with the offender in a future race, he's not going to be part of anything nor should he be. Club teams can easily take care of this issue in future race(s).
Oh no, not the Emaciated Runners Mafia... So deal with him during future races, resulting in more violence, DQs and more doxing? Sounds great.
Fake lawyers, fake classmates, and now fake tough guys all coming out of the woodwork.
Lins ole boy. There's a lot available to us which don't involve "violence" or DQs which could simply make his competitive life miserable for a couple of races. In fact, I pointed this out in my post but your apparently not bright enough to figure it out. There's no tough guy necessary.
I don't really understand what you're getting at here. Why don't you just say what's on your mind instead of being so coy.

I'm guessing he would suggest something completely lame, like boxing him in. Other than that, the guy doesn't have suggestions.
Nobody else had problems with the "tangents" and "manhole cover". The attacker dude actually prepared himself for the fall, getting his arms out to save himself, as he was delivering the hit.

I have no choice but to address this comment and the faulty logic perpetrated in making it.
For instance, let’s say there was no manhole cover, for someone stole it.
If the next ten people who walked by did not fall through the empty manhole cover, but then the 11th person did, whose fault is it that the 11th person fell through the hole?
Surely tis the person who who stole the cover, not the person who fell through the hole that was opened up as a result.
As such, I deserve some recognition in this regard.
You’re joking, right? I went to a college better than yours, and everybody knows that the groups that are neither white nor Asian (and African to a lesser extent) are unqualified

Xav is actually a really kind guy I know personally. He genuinely simply loves running, and supports the community both beginners and more serious amateurs alike. He didn't intend to send this guy into the rail like that, and this has all really tore him up. Even if he tried to keep him on his shoulder and out of fourth position, sometimes you get caught up in the moment and make a mistake. I've made dick moves in my life before that I've regretted. I've made dick moves in my life that I've taken time to take ownership for. It's a lot to process with so much attention on social media. What I will say, it's super sad to see the amount of vilifying, doxxing, and quite frankly cyber bullying this has all devolved into, including individuals impersonating him on the internet. In the medical tent, he apologized profusely to both Jack and his parents - who didn't accept it and have run with the story now because of the media attention. For a 1 second moment with no true harm intent, that's pretty low class in my opinion. Seeing some of the comments here are pretty hurtful. I hope one day the individuals saying some of these obscene statements let a little more compassion into their hearts, and realize this could happen to them or anyone they know at any time.
