LR is a business. It survives off of display ads, which is run through third-party networks like Google. Google loses money when those display ads are shown against objectionable content, because users will implicitly link the brand they see with the objectionable content. This is why Tumblr got rid of the porn.

The problem isn't that there's more moderation, the problem is that the trolls you hold up as being hilarious and irreverent are costing the BroJos money, mostly because most normal people don't find them as funny a you do and therefore in addition to being unsafe for brands, it drives down traffic which has an exponential impact on the value of their inventory.

But I can tell on the basis of your complaints that you're a big pro-business kind of guy, so if you have a problem with this, you can feel free to go start your own website and save us from your weak, beta, snowflake ass complaining.

I doubt troll threads drive down traffic at all.

Yeah, these guys are getting carried away. My Lord of the Rings thread was deleted earlier today which was largely complimentary of the show. Not sure why that ended up on the chopping block.

there is no discussion. Just people posting ad nauseam about their POV, who are beyond listening to anyone else. People like Astro, Rekrunner, Armstronglivs, etc. offer very little substance (but think they do), and are arguing or rather opinionating for its own sake. This is when the board becomes tedious. Please moderate this to kingdom come if that is what it takes - but I won't hold my breath.

all the funny comments on the Ky Robinson / Nico Young thread were deleted. yes, some were offensive, but most were borderline. So yes, I would agree that all the good comments are being removed.

A thread asking if Kipchoge should be banned for “guilt by association” was just deleted. I have no idea why. I mean, the OP had a dumb idea, but it could have prompted good discussion on positive tests, etc. If we start deleting threads for having bad ideas, we might as well close down the message board. It isn't moderation; it is censorship. Only views approved of by the mods are now acceptable. They would easily get jobs in the Chinese state media.

My take is that the moderation is uneven at best. I understand the sentiment that too many harmless posts are deleted. But at the same time, I reported some blatantly racist posts but Ghost of Igloi on the DGTD thread that remain days, even weeks, after they were reported. Go figure.
