Abortion isn’t just birth control, it is also a life-saving procedure for a woman. My own sister nearly died during a very much wanted pregnancy from a non-viable fetus. Had she not been able to receive an abortion, she wouldn’t be here.

In the 1950s, women could be legally trapped in abusive marriages due to divorce proceedings requiring a showing of cause (no fault divorce did not start becoming law until 1970). In the 1950s, men could legally rape their wives due to the marital rape exceptions (again the law until states started repealing in 1970). Prosecution of rape and sexual assault were very rare and usually were only pursued when the men were black or from a lower economic class than the victim. For all practical purposes, women basically had to fend for themselves against unwanted sexual advances from bosses, customers, boyfriends, etc. While there were more and more women attending college, in part thanks to the necessity of bringing women into the workforce during WWII, women by and large were relegated to school teacher, nurse, secretary etc. Women who had children out of wedlock were shunned by family and community and often ended up destitute. Women who divorced often found the same fate as enforcement of alimony and child support orders was lax at best (if you were actually able to get a court order in the first place). Divorce carried a similar taboo to having a child out of wedlock. With the exception of a few coastal communities filled with artists and performers like NY and San Fran, women who were lesbians stayed closeted for their entire lives.

Stop the emotional outrage and consider the fact that most legal experts knew roe was susceptible to being overturned. It was a poorly decided case. They reached too far initially which led to the opposition from what would become the pro life community.

So as of this morning doctors will let women die due to ectopic pregnancies in your State? Which State do you live in?

Abortion is unrestricted for cases involving rape, incest, or mothers life is in danger. However, all other reasons for abortion are illegal.
Not many agree to take that deal because they use the exception to try and justify the rule. ALL abortion should be unrestricted in their opinion because of the less than 1% of abortion cases.
