The Penn State women has been talking about they can break the college 4x800 record of 8:17.45 . Anyone think they can pull that off today?
maybe? They do have the lead. Penn State women taking the 800 mantle from the boys?
They got the win but didn't get the record.
But did superstar freshman Allison Johnson run for them? My stream is so bad I can't see their faces well, but as far as I can tell it didn't look like Johnson was on the 4x800. Anyone have any info on what's going on with her?
I got rough splits for Vess 4:17, Bush 4:13, Shaw 4:15, Tuohy 4:10. For Arkansas Van Camp 4:17 Jolly 4:15 Gregory 4:11 Gear 4:11. Like I said, NC State could run good and it might not be enough
nc state runners all ran a pr i believed and yet it wasnt enough, but put up one hell of a fight, i hope the girls are happy with it
coach henes kinda has a mantra of..do what you practiced and if you did what you had to do and ran what you're capable of and still get beat, you got beat

hard to tell. according to the results page, she ran the second leg but then the same results page still says she ran the Sprint Medley on Friday which she definitely didnt (despite the announcer calling Victoria Tachinski her name like 20 times...). Thought she got hurt at the NCAA indoors but not sure.
Does anyone know what the high school girls 600 OUTDOOR record is?
Sophia Gorriaran is running really well, and I'm wondering if she has a shot at the record.
As far as I can tell, the OUTDOOR high school record is 1:29.13 set a few years ago by Caitlin Collier. But that's not official, I'm just relying on a article that thinks its the record.

High School junior Sophia Gorriaran ran a ridiculous 1:25.22 in the 600. Wow!
She is going sub 2 in the 800 before she graduates.

Per the IAAF scoring calculator, her 600 meter time translates to a 1:59.98 for 800 meters. Very impressive race, she was patient early and finished strong. She ran like an adult out there.

running so often against Willis and Whittaker has been invaluable and this is like the third or fourth time shes run against top professional talent so even the intimidation factor of that has probably diminished for her and she has gained confidence knowing shes capable of hanging with the super stars. and we dont even know where shes going to college yet...

I'm not convinced that Sophia Gorriaran go to college. I wouldn't be surprised if she goes pro right out of high school.
Gorriaran's time of 1:25.22 would break the NCAA women's 600m record -- indoor or outdoor. Athing Mu has the indoor collegiate record at 1:25.80 and Wilson-Perteete has the outdoor collegiate record at 1:28.02.

She says she wants to both run track and play lacrosse in college like she does now in HS. Her sister who was a HS All American in lacrosse is a freshman at Penn.
Mu cruises to a 1:22.75. Ok, everybody can take a deep breath and relax. Turns out our greatest middle distance runner of all time is still great! She remains the prohibitive favorite to win in Eugene.
