I think it’s fair to say that these situations are absolutely plausible and desperate times call for desperate measures. BUT, if you happen to find yourself in that situation, CLEAN TF UP AFTER YOURSELF.
The issue with this poop nonsense is not about what situation arose that resulted in poop - the issue is the fact that the poop happened AND remained there.
the very least - you were desperate BUT come back with a grocery bag and pick up your crap like you would if your dog pooped. It’s a respect and decency issue.

The track club, as well as each of the individual defecators, should be sued on multiple counts: defamation, obstruction, infliction of emotional distress, breach of public license, destruction of facilities, nuisance, conspiracy, the full boating mother lode of torts.

Many tracks are attached or next to public parks and left open by the school. They are also usually only used for sports practices after school. So there is no interaction between the public and students, because those students are in class. Some are open to the public and some are not, that's the school's choice. Some tracks are even 4 or 5 blocks away from the high school like in my hometown.
Its different than walking into a school during school hours, which if you want to talk to a coach or someone else who works there is still fine as long as you ask ahead. I mean that is where they work. I mean I'm sure some schools are run like prisons but not every one.

If it's a Nike sponsored athlete, man have they gotten soft. Gone are the days where Nike runners would suck it up, crap their pants, and finish the damn track workout without missing a beat. They wouldn't stop mid-workout to poop on the track. There are confirmed stories of certain Nike runners doing this... and more than once.

Do we know if the poop in question was/wasn't cleaned up by the runner?
Also, if there was an "emergency" defecation on the track, it probably wasn't the kind that could be just cleaned up with a bag. I'd be more of a power washer situation.

I agree with you. There is no excuse for not securing the facility prior to travel. And any idiot coach that think it’s okay to ride a bike on a track should be shot.
Riding a bike on a track is never okay.I agree. Someone has to plan all the lodging and whatnot ahead of time, so practice facilities should definitely be part of that planning. I'm surprised any non-student would be allowed on school grounds during school hours to begin with. Sure, as an individual I'm sure I've broken this rule in some one-off workout, but there's a big difference between that and a group of adults regularly using the track and especially going inside the school for whatever reason.

Upon further investigation, the closest public toilet is 6 miles away according to Google maps. However, there are a couple of hotels they could have easily used. There's always a restroom in the lobby.
