Good post...I think she doesn't care at this point. She got her$ and connections, and will probably parlay that into either a speaking career, a book deal, and/or life as an announcer/celebrity for NBC or the Olympics media team.

At 21, she has plenty of time with the potential she has already established. Unproven? Are you saying that somebody slipped the drugs to her without her knowledge? First I have heard that especially since she admitted it.

Pot isn’t known to enhance performance. There’s a set of haters who religiously believe her time at the trials was PED enhanced, and her more recent performance was clean, none of which is proven.

Agreed, people here on LR that is. The rest of the world doesn’t care, not the sponsors, not the fans, not IAAF, not USAF, really nobody except anonymous haters on online forums. Most people including the elite athletes know the rules: the rules are you are clean until proven otherwise with a test.

BTW, I'm in the minority who believes everybody dopes. So. IMO, if Sha'Carri is a doper it doesn't bother me.

There is a narrative that people "hate" on Sha'Carri and want to silence her because she's a strong black woman. Poster above mentioned this. Same poster talked about her actually not being strong, but weak backed up by her over the top "personality" and her flat out choking in the race this past weekend. BTW, that wasn't the first time she choked in a race. 2019 USATF championships she was THE focus of the NBC broadcast. Look at her body language and look at how she ran that race. Awfully similar to the race she ran in Oregon.

With as much pressure as she's under already for being a young, talented sprinter the last thing she needs is more pressure. But she puts herself out there with the loud "personality" to overcompensate for not believing in herself. This brings more eyes, and higher expectations, and she clearly has a hard time dealing.

Nope, you are wrong. Never used the word “weak” or implied she’s “not strong”. She is a strong back woman, yes. Outwardly she projects a shockingly high level of confidence in herself. Inwardly that day, I said it was “quite possible” (we’ll never know) that she was rattled and on the verge of crying and projecting false bravado for the media in the adrenaline rush of the race. It’s human nature for the strongest to have movements of vulnerability inside. Doesn’t make her a weak person to me.

With millions of followers, she’s one of the most popular athletes out there, so she clearly knows what she’s doing right. She’s 21 and will probably smooth out any rough edges in handling pressure going forward.

Her personality and performance are two unrelated things. The latter is mostly what matters, irrespective of whether you like the former or not.

But your comment is false. She admitted using a banned drug to enhance her performance. She was suspended for it. Those are all basic facts.

I don't believe her performances have been doped; it just seems to me that thus far she is incapable of handling pressure and stress. Many of us don't do well with stress and pressure it is true, but she is culpable of creating and adding unnecessary stress to her process which of course translate into slow times. When last has she run an 11? I can only recall the US Trials in 2019. She has demonstrated that she has the speed; she needs to decide whether she wants to live on social media or focus on her craft and blow away the competition.

How much of her popularity came about because of her blunt and the controversy it created? What does she want to be known for? How long will her popularity last without winning results? You must be aware that the public can be fickle and have no qualms moving to the next shiny toy. Does she want to be known as the greatest sprinter ever or one of the greatest in her field or popular for simply being controversial? I guess only time will tell. And you keep saying she's only 21, surely you must realize that time is not guaranteed to anyone.

She said she needed to use a drug during the trials so that that she could deal with the death of her mother otherwise would not have been able to perform. So the drug greatly enhanced her performance according to her. I recommend that you notify her that you don't believe her.

Not true, never called her a liar or implied anything like that. She never said the drug helped her performance. No one of any credibility said or implied so either. Below is a rough transcript of her statements to prove it. Where’s your transcript evidence for her tying the drug to being able to perform? Your point is like saying eating food enhances performance because otherwise she wouldn’t be able to perform, a true but pointless claim.

None of these you listed is banned: “training to enhance performance… use sports psychologists… get rest…” and even using medically prescribed drugs to deal with mental health. Her mistake she admitted to and apologized was she used marijuana (implicitly without a medical exception coz if she had one authorized, she wouldn’t have received a monthlong ban).

Anyways, you love the personality. None of it is real. She's far from authentic. She's loud and brash, but it's not real. If you are indeed this strong, outgoing personality then folding like she did in 2019 and the way she did this past weekend wouldn't have happened. You can have a bad day, but she flat out quit.
