It's actually much higher. Most can get paid about $100 per 1000 followers per post on instagram so she'd likely make minimum $2300 per post. so 6 figures really isn't out of reach
This completely depends on a number of factors but the figures are way off.
Every attractive female has >250k subscribers at this point on instagram. People don't really care about the cheap product slinging either.
Her last CBD post is a great example.
She's slinging THC free CBD? CBD is only really effective as full spectrum (ie a little bit of THC in it) which would mean the product would be banned for athletes. So it's THC free CBD or a non-effective item and your trying to market that to what, 20 year old female athletes?
There was a point when Quigley was cool and had a lot going for her but you have to wonder where it all went wrong.
I agree with what others have said previously, especially the public Nike bashing and specifically the woke posts/ supporting women, but then not showing support to several former teammates.
There is a tone deafness in there that shows she has some real character flaws.
I've heard the same thing - I head an "influencer" with 250k followers was being paid about $5k per sponsored post. I think this person has a particularly engaged/rabid fan base, so as a previous poster stated engagement likely plays into it - if you have 250k followers but most are passive/bots than that won't get you as much.
All that being said, good for Colleen, and she has the potential to make good money from smaller sponsorships/partnerships.

Quig's is ~the same age as Frerichs, and two years younger than Coburn. Her 3000m PB is ~8secs faster than Coburn's and Frerichs'. Can she improve her technique to make it a race at the trials? If so, maybe she can become the 2021 USA Team Captain!
If I were to choose to be mean in this situation, I'd say Quigs is around five years away from selling real estate in Florida.
That ain't a bad exit. Gives her two more Olympic opportunities before then.

It depends on the value of the niche and yes engagement matters a ton more than pure number of followers. There are a crapload of people trying to make money in the fitness/beauty/health lifestyle realm. Makes it hard to really stand out.
But let's say she makes 5k/sponsored post. Can she find like 20+ of them a year? I doubt the CBD marketing budgets are that high. The people I know who have mad good money tend to have recurring relationships(they have half dozen companies that advertise on a regular basis).
You would think that some running clothing brand would find it worth while to have every training photo of hers to have their logo on it. But there might be disagreements about the value(they offer 50k and she wants 500k).
She def should be thinking about starting her own apparel/cosmetic brand.

This result has me curious if she will run more than just the steeple at the trials:
https://results.wingfootfinish.com/meets/7114/events/230866/resultsWould she consider racing the 1500 as well?

She would have to balance the extra media exposure in doing so, versus the prospects of going up against Houlihan, Schweizer, Rowbury, Simpson, etc.; it would be energy-sapping from her main event.

The schedule is a bit weird for that with the 1500 and steeple intertwined . Her chance in the 1500m is pretty low(assuming houlihan, purrier, simpson show up) as she would be like 1 of a dozen chasing like 1 spot if one of the top 3 had an off day. In the steeple she is a pretty clear #3

Possibly #2 - Frerichs did a video earlier this year where she said she hit a hiccup in training so they started to work on strength. It wouldn't surprise me if Quigley was #2 and possibly (given the performances so far of Coburn this year, #1). Coburn has done well, but not so well that I think she has #1 in the bag. I mean if I despised Nike, and felt they offered me less than my worth, I would find it satisfying and motivating to really push out some power just to show them what they're missing.
I was looking at the schedule and thinking the same thing. Also agree her chances are probably not great in that event. If she ran round 1 of the 1500, and then get a sense if there are any injured contenders to increase her odds she could decide on racing the finals or not. That said, as I look at the contenders...
Houlihan
Purrier
Simpson
Grace
Hiltz
McGee
McClean
Osika
S.Johnson
Dani Jones
Schneider
Cranny
That's pretty stacked...and I'm sure I'm missing some names. But she has shown a very solid kick throughout her carrier.

A lot of those people don't even have the Oly standard though, right?

Oh I agree, not saying that cobbling these together should be her primary source of income - just trying to explain to people why its a legitimately good business decision to build her online brand.
Not a bad year's work if she does 10 of them a year, plus a shoe/apparel contract (which I'm sure she will eventually get).

Maclean, Cranny and Jones don't have the standard, whereas Schlachtenhaufen and Efraimson have it. Rowbury still needs it. 1500 is just brutal currently...

A 23 year old butt model who's had some work done and has 2 million followers can pull this off but not the 30 year old US distance runner with 250k followers.
Apparel and cosmetic brands are over saturated unless you are a major player.
She is only 28, and is recognizable in her marketable niche. Other models are dime-a-dozen.
I think Colleen can certainly make a living by cobbling together a bunch of smaller sponsorships that may be greater than or equal to what she would have gotten from Nike, but at what cost? Now she is spending all her time hustling to make smaller deals, doing bathtub photo shoots, etc. vs. having a guaranteed paycheck. Plus she lost her coach, training partners, and access to Nike's world class facilities, trainers, doctors. etc. I heard the podcast where she took a swipe at Shelby for "only wanting to eat sleep and run and sometimes play video games," but Shelby is the greatest American female runner right now.
If her goal was simply to be a sports personality and make a living as an athlete/influencer, this is all well and good. If she is looking to run competitively on the international stage, this seems like the absolute wrong way to go about it.
