in her letter to BTC on her website she says she isn’t resigning to nike so my guess is she’s joining team boss and signing with either new balance or puma
No, something def went down. Emily and Shelby no long follow Colleen and Shelby isn’t even tagged in old pictures anymore. Also, when Kate grace left, all the women left heartfelt comments on her insta post. Not so much for Colleen.

You picked the user name "inside her" and want us to believe you are female and not sexist? Reminds me of the old days when Sally Vix wasn't a married guy. The great freedom of anonymous message boards, everyone can be anyone they want to be.
Really? I actually read her letter, and it sounds like it was getting too crowded at BTC, and she may not have been getting enough personalized training.

Oh goodness.
Yeah I was going to say that this whole thing feels really weird and sudden. BTC seemed like a great fit for Colleen. It's true she had injuries and misfortune but ever since she joined BTC she has accomplished a ton. Training with Courtney, she is without a doubt among the top 3 fastest Steelers in the country and is (barring injury) a shoe in for the Olympic team. She has never missed a US squad. She also is the most marketable of all the BTC athletes, utilizing social media to engage young fans she has the biggest following. She also won a US Title.
This was definitely a choice that came from her. I don't think that Nike would depart from her so quickly.
I'm curious to see what she does next.

When was the last time someone left a training group within 6 months of an Olympics and things worked out well for him or her?
CQ has a fairly comfortable margin to the 4th best female US steeplechaser. She could run 10 secs behind her best and still come third after Coburn and Frerichs. Her main risk is injury and that has happened with BTC, so that particular risk might not be worse with a new coach/group.
As someone who is around the same age as Shelby, she has seemed really immature in the interviews I've seen of her. I think all the speculation on this message board is silly and most likely overblowing the problem, but, it's pretty clear that the friendly competition between Colleen and Shelby got a little toxic with all the dumb FBF stuff as well as them competing against each other for indoor titles. Here's to hoping a similar dynamic doesn't play out with her and Karissa.
so are we sure the issue is Emily.
Emily has posted about Colleen in her story and commented on her post with hearts.
also, I can totally understand someone leaving BTC if it's just such a toxic environment to train in. If she's not getting on with the girls and has to live with them, that can be emotionally draining and not a good place for her to be.
It will be interesting to see if she ends up with Team Boss. On the one hand, it's probably the only other legit female distance training group right now. On the other hand, it seems like Colleen is more interested in being the star than just a number of a group. I get the vibe that Emma Coburn likes being the Queen Bee of her training group, so I wonder if they would have similar personality clashes. I agree with other posters that in addition to probably the cold hard cash involved in her contract negotiations, relationships had cooled with her and some of her BTC teammates.
my hunch (and i have nothing besides my gut to back this up) is that she ends up being the veteran presence in the new puma group that everyone assumes will be coached by Alistair Cragg. Would fit with her seeming interest in a smaller group as well as the recruiting she mentioned in her open letter, plus she would be the unquestioned alpha among the 1500/steeple group at least at this point.
If not that, i would guess it is OAC with Ritz.

What do you mean she didn't fit with the other girls?
Based on remarks she made in a recent podcast, it was clear she wasn't super close with any of the girls. Also heard that from a few of her teammates directly.

Everyone on this MB speculating when she literally put out a podcast today talking about some of the riffs between her and team members
i wouldn’t be surprised if beef started in BTC when karissa joined. from the looks of it with both of their fbf it seems like they were bffs because they were the speedsters on the teams but karissa slid into shelby a best friend spot and i would be surprised if that caused the divide because we all know shelby is the queen bee of btc

sorry to be lazy but can we get a time stamp? It's over an hour long.
also, no way she ends up with Boss. I think the dynamic there with Emma and her husband as the coach would not work for someone of Colleen's talent level, not to mention her event.
I also think that the Puma group wouldn't leave her with too many athletes to actually train with that would push her. Colleen isn't just a great steepler. She's a great runner periodt. Also I think she is aware that she got to this level because she trained with great people and under great coaches.
The only team running wise and sponsor wise that makes sense at this point is Pete Julian's group. But I don't think she wants to be affiliated with that doping mess. Is there a group in Flagstaff that would make sense for her?

There is a reason why famous teams like Tinman Elite don't even have a women's division yet. Lots of possible drama, especially behind the scenes.
You can always count on LateRunnerPhil to slide into any and every interesting thread and schill for Tinman lol

And it doesn't matter if you are a woman. You can still be sexist. Black people can be racist because there are more than two races, and a lot of them are subject to racism. So yeah, you're comments are a massive generalization of how all women act, which is clearly untrue. There may be some, and that may be your experience, but there are surely other more professional women out there.
You’re both missing the point and annoying.
It doesn’t have to do with women being more sensitive/ drama prone. Colleen obviously is an extremely talented runner and has made most of her money based on that. I have no idea if it would come into play with her Nike contract but CQ’s looks play into her overall social media following and definitely has lead to extra earnings in sponsorships. That’s just a fact and nothing she should be ashamed of. If you’re a girl that’s faster on BTC, that has to frustrate you at some level and could easily lead to not being super close friendship wise. You don’t become that good of a runner without being super competitive.
How many male distance runners get any sponsorships based on their looks? Zero? Guys would get pissed about the same sh*t and it would lead to the same drama if they faced the same scenario but they don’t.
I don't think she ends up with any of the groups mentioned. She will likely be in Southern California or Florida from now thru the trials.
I can definitely see how having a literal team of that many competitive women can lead to drama and tiffs. It's not like an XC team where you've got your top runners, and your kids who are just there to make friends and have fun. Everyone wants to be the best, and this leads to money differences. How has the nicer apartments, houses, cars etc.
There is always drama because it's not linear and it should be. The fastest ones should get the most value from Nike. Colleen IS one of the fastest, but she brings value in other ways. This may be because she's pretty and blonde but no one can deny her hustle.
I can see how others would be jealous of her here.
