what you idiots do not understand is that trump's goal is not free trade. Never has been, never will be.
The goal is punitive tariffs to reshore US mfgring and to replace the income tax with tariff income. So poor and middle class people pay more taxes and richer people pay less, proportionately.
So it doesn't matter if mexico or the EU reduces tariffs. That's not what trump wants. he wants the tariffs to stay until trade imbalances correct and billions flow into federal coffers.
Tariffs will stay and we will all pay their price.

Perhaps they are idiots. But what is the intelligence level and/or honesty of calling the poll a “verdict” on the tariffs when it was conducted March 31-April 3, with the tariff policy revealed late on the 2nd, and with no indication of the distribution of responses across the time frame?
Perhaps he is as popular as that poll indicates, perhaps more so, and perhaps less so. But it’s moronic, disingenuous, or both to draw that conclusion from that poll. Do you ever get skeptical about the likely reality if someone is going through such shady means to sell you that narrative?

The last time the US budget was funded primarily by tariffs, federal spending was like 2% of gdp. It’s now around 20%. Some idiots would say, “let’s go back to 2%”. That sounds great as long as you’re willing to give up social security, Medicaid, interstate highways, and reduce the military to around 25,000 soldiers (who supply their own weapons).
