"peaked at 2.6%" ? Try again. we know gdp growth is measured by quarters.
There were several quarters that avg'd above 4% under Obama, including back to back quarters above 4.5% in 2014, and one above 5%. THAT was the peak. (TWICE as high as 2.6%). And as far as the arbitrary calendar year being the only marker for a "year", if you simply count 4 quarters in a row, twice Obama had years (4 quarter avg) with over 3% growth. So once again, of course you are being misleading. This all despite repubs blocking everything he tried to do, and pushing huge austerity measures as part of any deals.
2017: Trump's first year in office avg 2.5 %. This is NOT beating Obama's "peak" by any stretch (peak growth in 1 quarter: 5%. Peak growth for half year (2 quarters): 4.8%. Peak growth for a year (4 quarter avg) - TWICE over 3%.

The stock market is a leading indicator so they should start the graph on election day, not inauguration day. There were a lot of gains as soon as he was elected.

So funny Gary, but another big lie, of course, from the"Donald Trump is the greatest president ever since Washington!!! guy."
We were right about Iraq being a not-worth-the-cost mistake.
We were right about W. Bush being a crappy president.
We were right that not only would Obama's election not signal the "end of America!" (as so many on the right predicted), but would end with him being respected by the American people, by the world, by historians. All of that was true (he finished with a near 60% approval rate, despite these divided times. Let me remind, W. Bush finished HIS 2nd term mired in the low 20's.)
And we were right that Donald Trump, classless, lying, A-hole, racist that he is, would be an embarrassment to our nation, a stain on our history, and encouragement to white supremacists all over.

Yes, you are being misleading. First of all, "peaks" certainly can be mesured by quarter. By that measure, you are way off. Secondly, while I understand that calendar year is typically used to represent a "year", 4 quarters in a row = a year. That's a fact. Obama twice had 4 quarter avg's of above 3%. fact.
Donny has started at a 2.5% 4 quarter avg, with peak of 3.2 %. Really not that great to get your panties wet over. Let's see where it goes from here.

Uh, your girl Hillary voted for the war with Iraq.
Obama is not being respected, he is being forgotten. He left a stain of corruption on our government and Trump is washing it out.
Trump has been making America great again, just like he said he would.
You are wrong.

Make a few non-obvious predictions for us. We'll see how many hits you get.
GDP growth under Trump will be greater than under Obama because of the following:
1. Fewer regulations, especially on the energy sector which effects all others.
2. Lower corporate taxes.
GDP growth peaked at 2.6% under Obama. I will AVERAGE above that under Trump.
Minorities will not suffer under Trump, because Trump and his supporters are NOT the deplorable racists you think we are.
Let's see, one more to get to a "few".
Long term - many years from now when me and all the other old-white-conservative people have died, which liberals think is needed to usher in the new era of Utopian tolerance and equality ... will instead usher in an era of hatred, intolerance, and division ... because young people today are not being taught to accept each other as individuals ... they are being taught to treat everyone as either a victim or a villain, so that the victims can justify taking from the villains, and everyone will struggle to cast the other guy into the villain basket while trying to avoid being cast into it himself. Many of us older people believe that everyone should be treated equally under the law, and that no one deserves other people's stuff, and when we're gone that foundation of principled civility will be gone... leaving society to rip itself apart.
BONUS prediction:
Liberals will be wrong. On everything! That's the one universal constant.
Try again. This time provide specific metrics for your predictions. Otherwise, it's just hot air.

Spinning to find a way to make Obama's economy look good I see. It won't help. Reagan had a 4 quarter run where growth was over 8.5% for the year. Obama's economy was not good. I predict Trump's economy will be much better than Obama's when all the results are in.

That was pretty specific. Just about all the predictions about Trump made by Democrats/liberals have been proven untrue already, so simply getting close will put me way ahead of you.
DiscoGary wrote:

It'll have to be. He promised 4%!
And to whoever it was above who said that Obama is not respected: You're wrong. I never voted for him, for good reasons, and I expect historians will rate him only about a B- president at best (assuming average is a C); but I certainly respect him for the way he "wore" the office and represented the country. And having spoken with many internationals (and seen the relevant polls), I can tell you that around the world he is regarded as un homme sérieux.
Partly, of course, it's the old saying "contrast is everything" at work. Just as Trump's tenure has been making W. Bush look smarter and classier by comparison, so it has been polishing Obama's image.
Please explain the huge discrepancy between white college educated voters and non-white college educated voters who voted for Trump and Hillary.

I have never said so or insinuated so. The fact is that uneducated people far outvoted for Trump than for Clinton. Trump voters are apparently embarrassed by that as they like to mention that educated white men voted for Trump more than they did for Clinton. Doesn't matter to them that educated women voted for Hillary and not The Donald.
I'm just looking at demographics, and the fact is that the more educated you are (especially graduate level) the more likely you were to vote for Hillary and the less educated you are, the more likely you were to vote for Trump.
That can mean a lot of things. Decide for yourself if that's bad or good.
The MAIN point though is that Trump is a criminal and he will have to pay the piper.
Mueller is coming.
The clown is done.
Lots of assumptions in there, brother.
It's just the way it is. College educated voters were more likely to vote for HRC as were poor people. Nothing wrong with being poor or without a college degree.
Stats are funny...
What gets lost in all this uneducated (HS or less) voters supporting Trump is that that group only accounted for about 18% of the electorate and Trump only won 51/46% which means about 12 million people with HS diplomas or less voted for Trump and about 11 million voted for Clinton. Not really much of a mandate.
If you move the line for "educated voters" to those with "Associates Degree/Some College," a different picture develops in these two largest groups.
Associates Degree/Some College (32% of group) - Trump won group - 52% /43%
College Grad (32% of group) - Clinton won group - 49%/45%
Post-Grad (18% of group - same as HS or less) - Clinton won group - 58%/37%
So with "College Grad" and "Post-Grad" counted as "educated," 55% of Clinton's voters were educated compared to 46% of Trump's.
If you move the line to include "Associates Degree/Some College" as "educated" then 83% of Clinton's voters were "educated" compared to 80% of Trump's.[/quote]
It could also be that never trump republicans have lost their way.

Really? Many people who voted for Trump hadn't voted in years or had voted Democrat before, and some who supported Bernie Sanders ended up voting for Trump. This is clearly not the Republican Party of even George W. Bush. Right now it is some amalgam of Far-right conservatives, racist white nationalists, evangelicals who have lost their way, some people who just want someone to take care of them, and some libertarians. It is the Trump Party now. A Party without George Will is not the Republican Party of old. Maybe reason will once again be a part of the Republican Party.

No this hasn't been going on. Obama used the national security apparatus to spy on the opposition party with the intent of overthrowing the elected President. Nixon never came close to something as bad as this, and neither did Cheney.
This is probably the biggest scandal in the history of the US because it is an attempt to cancel the results of the election which would effectively end our democratic process. The fact that Trump has unmasked this corruption is one of the things that puts him above many other Presidents.
The FBI presented legally obtained evidence to FISA courts to obtain FISA warrants. There, fixed it for you. Before you continue on with your ridiculous deep state/secret society theories, do some research on what it takes to get a FISA warrant. Obama CANNOT use our intelligence agencies to spy on the GOP.
Trumpers are not dealing with reality.
The biggest scandal in American history will be Trump and Russia's efforts to circumnavigate democracy. Trump will go down as the worst president. A criminal. Russiagate will dwarf Watergate. Trump is infinitely worse than Benedict Arnold.
Mueller time is fast approaching.
