The 284 day of training phase II. 19mwp+82mhc + 19mcd=120 minutes.I'm still a leader for the youngsters, then I try to keep up with few hill repeats. The speed is coming realy good.
The second section was great too.jogging with the right form of competition.preparation for Stanford Invitation meet.TimeTrials guys tomorrow 1500m and for me a mile.
I need the middle school runner,I think Mike can run with me is coach by Richard. We need to go under 6 minutes for a mile.
What do you think coach Richard? Can your kid run with me? I pace him last time and we set the record 6:14 a mile for Mike. Can he pace for me to run 5:30 or better?

Oh! yeah I will ask them first, but they need not to be too shy about what they got afterwords. What they got is what they have right!
So, I will tell them and they better like it.They are under me. Aren't they? I'm not mean, but I'm real.Do I look ugly when I post my results NO! I don't think so?
That way they can tighten up their budds realy tight and then claim the good results in furure.

FYI: If any of the Henry supporters on this thread live in the south or mid-west, are over 50, and can run a mile in 5:20 or better, you're welcome to join him in the Invitational Grandmasters' 1 mile race at the Music City Distance Carnival on June 2nd in Nashville.
More info here:
http://www.tnrunning.com/HPtrackseries/MCDC.htmlAlso racing will be former SEC champion from Alabama, Steve Bolt (he still holds the SEC Indoor Champs meet record for the mile). Now 51, Steve is shooting for 4:48.
Should I make anouncements that day June 2,2007.I will be one year old in training for mile. The 4:40 mile record will come-down same day.I will own it.It is going to be under my belt. Those guys used to keep me hard time now mark my words.Do you want to bet? For how much?
Get ready guys!!!!

You're predicting 4:40 for your first track mile on June 2? I think I'll take some of THAT action. I'd say a more reasonable prediction is somewhere between 5:20 and 5:40.
The main thing is after months of talk we will finally see a race result.
I don't think he's saying he will run a 4:40 mile in that June race for his 1ST RACE...that would be pretty tough....I think he will start competing and working his way down to be ready to run a 4:40 by that time. Taking it in steps....1st, 5:30, 510, 5 minutes, 450, etc, etc....
Time to start the time trials or racing, Henry!
GO RONO GO!
interesting story and article; Henry, did you know John Ngugi? I know he was about 10 years younger than you.
Brilliant, controversial, and certainly interesting, the career of John Ngugi is now re-told by Kenyan journalist Omulo Okoth.

The 285 day of training phase II. 70 minutes training mostly hill climbing and walking I was really sore today.I didn't feel like doing time trials.
The youngsters did 1500 meters. For Solomon was 3:59 and Kris did it with time of 4:06.59 there are tire of hard week hill training, after they finish Kris wanted to do it again,I believe because he didn't get enough warm up.They are trying to get the 5k pace for Stanford Invitation and Steeplechase pace of 67 seconds a lap.
These hills can make you get it.

Right On, Henry. Hills, hills, hills!
I think it's working for you. I'm inspired.

What is it that's working? I've seen nothing but alot of talk so far. No time trials, no races, no mention of his weight in the past month......I'm hoping, like all Rono fans are; but.....I'll believe it when I see it.
Henry: are you running the Carlsbad 5k in 2 weeks? The fast, 5k road race in So. Cal that draws top runners in all of the age groups? Are you ready to run such a race based upon your training and conditioning? How about an update for us fans?

Hey Henry,
Yes when you're beat up from hills and you know it(!!) pushing your body to run fast is a recipe for major injury. No need to feel bad about listening to your body. You say that in so many different ways- about understanding what good hurt and bad hurt are- listen to your body enough and you'll start to understand it - That seems to be one of the things that breaks the good from the great ones is understanding what the body's telling you.
Keep up the good fight it will be rewarded.
Tom
To wineturtle,
You are right,I have said in so many different ways-how my body feels and going through all the hurts-listening to it.It is how I master this old body.
How can you be in charge of running if you don't pay attention to your body feelings? Athletes who are successful in running do understand what the body tells them.
Henry
To Dilbert,
The heeeeelll! is what I can tell you for now for the morning section and the evening section is the Academy Track.
What we do in a Academy is to gather up the speed to connect with endurance by doing some specific drills untill the end of this month. Moreover doing alot of stretches is to get sore in the muscles as much as possible for these old and young bodies.
How is it sound do you like that?
For Carlsbad 5k is upto Mike Long to make a decision on his part.My part I'm ready to hit it and that should be my main target in two weeks.

I know you want even touch it for you to believe me. That is fine with me, just wait! I will post the results right on the wall, but don't be shock with the great news from the heeeellls!

The 277 day of training phase II.32mwp +92mhc + 11mcd=135 minutes.
I want to line up race beginning next month. What do you have in mind Rono rules?
I know I have one in May 13,May 20,2007.One mile world record attempt and that is for May and June 2,Nashvile;however,I need an appetizer in the month of April to quech my throat as you know I can't hold my horses when they are set to race. You know me.
What do you think?
Henry
It sounds great. I hope you come to So. Cal. to race this spring and summer so I can come out to see you run and bring my kids along. As you known, there are alot of big races on the track and roads; how many of them have a masters division, I'm not sure of.
You live and train in Albuqueque, right? Isn't that at altitude? 6,000 sf? I'm not sure. You need to race at sea level to find out what you really can do, correct? Since an altitude time would be slower?

The 287 day of my training phase II by the way.It is not 277 day as I wrote at above.I can't go back I'm heading forward and my body tells me now I'm that old as we speak. I'm ready to walk upright and perhaps really walk faster no kidding.

To Rono rules
