FWIW, my first coaching job raked in less than 2k a YEAR, that was the mid 2000’s, so not crazy long ago

UNC throws did the same. Thrower who graduated from there this past season, now a throws coach in a P4 position… hard to believe that nobody with better experience applied
This is due to coaches becoming more singularly focused on their own event group. He didn’t want to get rid of thr throws just yet, but instead put in a placeholder. Roster limitations means he’s not looking to expand that throws group but he may have a few good ones he doesn’t want to lose but won’t replace them once they graduate.
an experienced coach would want more and would eventually become a potential issue. This kid isn’t gonna recruit hard, especially if he still has his own athletic career to worry about so he may just quit after a few years to focus on that.

So if you knew an athlete who was considering running for TCU, your advice would be? Asking for a friend :-)
My advice would be find a different school. Running for Porter isn't worth it
That was literally two DECADES ago so really it was long ago... Not really relevant to a lot of coaching jobs nowadays. You're either volunteering or usually making at least 10K
