Latest forecast: 1.8 percent — March 1, 2017

The GDPNow model forecast for real GDP growth (seasonally adjusted annual rate) in the first quarter of 2017 is 1.8 percent on March 1, down from 2.5 percent on February 27. The forecast for first-quarter real personal consumption expenditures growth fell from 2.8 percent to 2.1 percent after this morning's personal income and outlays release from the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Growth is good, right?

The market was roughly at the same level on 11/7/2016 as when I first posted 3/2/2015, I hardly think anything fundamental has really changed. Of course, the surprising thing is how gullible investors like you are. I am not surprised though since folks like you lost 50% of their equity value twice in the last eighteen years. It will happen to you again and getting closer by the day.

I had a Blackberry smartphone seven years ago. I kept it for a year. I found it a distraction and somewhat useless luxury. I see young dopes with their nose in their smartphone either driving, walking or sitting. In search of life's answer and they didn't even take a sack lunch.

You were involved in the art market, could this be where stocks are headed.

Here is the point of the thread. Markets go up and down. You have no idea when.

If valuations don't matter why are investor returns so poor?

Is that a joke? I was up 18% last year and it's only gone up since then.

The top one tenth of one percent has the ability to influence or possibly even cause a correction. They are licking their chops. More money to be made when the stock market falls.

saying nothing fundamental has changed is grossly unfair - earnings are surging, oil has stabilized, inflation is rising, wages are rising, manufacturing is rising strongly, the governmetn is talking large stimulus again....

things have become materially better

except hedge funds have sucked it up something gawdawful for 9 years. They have barely made a penny. and that is the top 10th of a percent.

so you might want to rethink the investment wisdom of the very rich.

the people who have done the best have bought the us stock market index, added regularly, never tried to be cute or clever, and never opened their statemetns.
