Fair enough what would your solution be make it so only Americans can invest in the economy? These foreign investors should be rewarded for investing in the us economy I’m fine with this and I hope the improved business climate causes them to invest even more.

How about the fact that trumps tax plan has allowed billions (soon trillions) of offshore dollars to be repatriated here in the us isn’t that a good thing? I think we can both agree that the amount of money coming back into the US as a result of this tax bill is several magnitudes higher than the money leaving. Fair?

You do not understand world economics. If you did, you would understand that repatriate is the incorrect word to use.

Now let's see off you can grasp off-shore bank accounts where the rich stash their money, especially foreign earnings. They have no intention of ever moving that money to the US. That money is best left off-shore to maximize investments in future foreign markets. Why pay the US taxman for money they have no right to?

Classic internet debate strategy call out my grammar and use it as justification that I clearly don’t know what I am talking about. I actaully have an economics degree so I have some idea what I am talking about. What are your qualifications?

Oh but these companies are brining that money back to invest in the US see apple and others. Will some companies still leave there money overseas of course they will but if we can even get a tenth of the trillions of dollars stashed overseas then that’s a win for America. Sorry that doesn’t fit your worldview.

My solution would be to not give massive tax cuts to corporations at all. These foreign investors have done quite well in recent years. Why do they need a massive tax cut on top of that? They don't need extra incentive to invest.

As for what is sometimes called "repatriation", that should have been dealt with separately through the normal legislative process. It's a very complicated issue and there is no way we got it right in such a hastily-prepared bill.

Trump supporters like to point out that the stock market rise is a result of his policies. Sorry, but Trump is not the creator of this bull market. Most of the indices around the world have been rising since 2009...take a look at a chart of the All-World Index and you will see a steadily rising 9-year trend with very few pullbacks. This bull has been fueled by Central Bank policies like quantitative easing where central banks create money and use it to buy up assets and securities such as government bonds. This drives up the price of bonds and keeps interest rates low. Some European Rates have even gone negative where you actually have to pay the bank to keep your money. The result has been that trillions of dollars around the world searching for yield have been going into the stock market. Trump may be the creator of "Bull" but not the Bull Market.

The discussion is always about how policies are bad because they help the wealthy. Just because policies help the wealthy doesn’t mean everyone down can’t benefit.

Actually, there is no wealth envy on this thread. What is on this thread are folks like you who have basic comprehension problems.

Here, let me help you out a little bit. When folks post here, they don't necessarily write out every little detail. People assume that readers know this and will not focus on the things that could have been included but were left out in the interest of brevity.

For example, when someone would like to make the point that tax policies should help out the less well off, or the middle class, or everyone . . . they may say something short like "This tax cut goes to the rich" rather than saying "This tax cut benefits primarily the wealthy when we should be focusing on (take your pick - the middle class, the poor, everyone . . .)."

You see, it is assumed that readers are intelligent enough to know that saying these tax cuts help the wealthy is short-hand for saying that they disproportionately help the wealthy and we need to focus on helping the non-wealthy more. Sorry if some readers are not sufficiently intelligent to understand this.

Everyone except the most stubborn, die-hard Lefties realize that the MSM pre-election narratives were flat out lies and manipulation. Also known as “undermining democracy.”
