I disagree. Dude went from worst to 1st in one year, in the Big West. Sure, the Big West isn't a Power 5, but the top athletes in that conference, in just about every event, would score in much larger conferences. Couple that with crappy facilities, little support from admin, he's done a lot with a little. I think it's great to see someone from a smaller gig, get a chance at a larger one.

The release announcing Jackson said he would be doing a national search for a head distance coach and two full time assistants. I know he's been trying to find a distance coach
Great points. I agree with many.
I don't believe SU should be afraid to go distance, there is tons of talent in the state and it's all about a coach who inspires kids to come to their program.
If SU changed to a sprint/power focus what would that get them? A terrible XC team and a few good athletes that make Regionals every few years. Where does that leave them in a conference stacked with sprinters ? Not good, so although I agree the focus needs to change, I think it needs to change philosophically with a leader who is inspiring and can provide a valuable experience for the athletes they can get.

Eastern Washington Hires former Idaho State Head Coach as new jumps/multi coach.
Terrible hire at Oregon State. But Dumble and he can partner up in a harder to recruit place than ASU and be bad where the admin and apparently alums don't care.
The Quintana led Arizona St cross team placed behind Oregon St last year so great job going out and getting a proven head or a proven winner. ASU scored 1 point on the track at conference in distance in the spring. Weak move but expected one.
