Following your logic Q4 would have been strong but it dipped in Q4, bringing the pace down.

All of that said, the President does not have that much affect on the economy.

Some, yes, but not the majority of influence.

I only point the stat out for all of the people constantly pointing out the the US did not have a full year over 3% under Obama and now it didn't happen under Trump.

And there was serious momentum in 2017 and it still didn't happen.

Sure, maybe next year and maybe the tax cuts will give it that bump.

The same bump if I would get an increase in a credit line. Doesn't mean I made more money, but I could spend more.

And the tax cut is deficit spending.

GDP is made mostly of consumer spending, then business investment, then government spending then next exports.

The spending on banking and healthcare is a big chunk of consumer spending.

Business investment is doing well.

Government spending keeps going down hurting the GDP.

And we have a negative net export number.

The tax cut will boost business investment for sure.

It could help some with consumption. It better.

The lack of government spending and no infrastructure talk isn't good.

The America first motto and unsure trade deals isn't making countries really want to buy American. I don't know if exports will do better.

The tax plan assumed a growth of 3-4% annually sustained to make it work.

We'll see.

The difference is that one group showed up with the intent to use violence to silence the other group. Those would be the Democrat/Antifa types. They started the violence with the intent of depriving other's of their free speech rights.

One group showed up to peacefully rally for the statue. Those would be the Nazis, KKK, and other supporters of the statue. These people tried to defend themselves without help from the police. Bad things were going to happen.

and the blame should fall on those who started the violence.

One lone white supremacist rammed his car into the crowd. That was not part of the group plan for supporters of the statue. That guy just snapped. You can not say all groups supporting the statue were responsible for that murder.

Reverse the political parties and ask yourself what you would think if white supremacists had violently attacked a BLM rally to shut them down, while the police stood by and let it happen. Then later a BLM guy runs over a white supremacist. What would you be saying about that? Who would you be defending? I would be defending the BLM against the unprovoked attacks, while condemning the murder of the white supremacist, but I would want to know the full story about what happened to the guy who snapped. Liberals are incapable of this kind of thinking! That's why they are liberals.

Listen I fully understand that the president doesn’t have a huge effect on the economy except when it comes to major policy proposals like tax cuts or a stilumus package (obama) for example. 2017 trump was just getting started the tax cuts happened late inQ4 so we won’t be able to see the effect they had till 2018 Q1. Whether you like it or not Trump owns the economy now 2017 was 50/50 between trump and obama I think most reasonable people will agree.

The best part is numbers don’t lie and I think we will see some great results from these tax cuts in 2018 that liberals will have to accept.

I don't think any president ever quite owns the economy.

There are aspects that can be owned depending on policies.

I don't give ownership of the 2008 collapse to Bush. It wasn't caused by a Bush policy.

I do give credit to both Bush and Obama for what they did in reaction to turn it around.

The economy is pretty good right now so it was an odd time to do a tax stimulus.

Republicans preach about fiscal responsibility and fear of debt and then make moves like this to pile on more debt.

Trump can own good times by putting the 2018 stimulus on a credit card, but who will get stuck with the bill?

Of course Obama ran up debt but that was because the country was bleeding jobs and GDP was negative.

Increasing debt in good times doesn't leave you with many resources when things go bad.

Trump as a business man had a pattern of racking up debt and then declaring bankruptcy and starting over or stiffing people on the bills.

You can't do that with a country.

But I guess we can enjoy the good times while they're here.
