Ok, Baghdad, what is your solution to eliminate our awful trade deficit?
Instead of whining, let's hear your lib plan/fix.

in retrospect, the West should have been more protectionist during the China shock. I think most people agree those 10ish years were punishing for the West and we should have used tariffs to slow the offshoring of jobs to China. but those years are over.
most people also think the chip business cannot be so heavily on Taiwan, which could be attacked any day by China. So sure, use tariffs to help build a US chip business. That;s going on now, although of course trump killed the chips bill because Biden got it done, not him.
Those kinds of narrow tariffs/protectionism can work.
but this crazy flamethrower method is a gigantic own goal. We want Vietnam to make t shirts. We don't want our people making items worth $1.50. It's a disaster and the markets said it cost the globe $300 trillion.
Best not to forget that Biden pushed the CHIPS Act through congress - you know the legal way, following the Constitution. That has resulted in new Semiconductor Fabs being built in AZ, TX, OH, etc. It takes time, but there was no direct pain to the American people. Long term this will be a massive win for America (jobs, Semiconductor control, infrastructure).
The Inflation Reduction Act pushed for US built cars and renewable energy that helps the US to become more energy independent. Again, NO pain for Americans but a big long term upside.
The new tariffs draw no direct path to the gains that these laws have already begun to deliver. They do, however, cause direct harm to the average American.
Pelosi was all for tariffs.

You think a number of people aren’t aware of different Democrats’ views on tariffs over the years?
You don’t think that we considered most of those ideas foolish when they were espoused by Dems and dismayed when so many Republicans turned their backs on principle to side with Trump?
People like you act as though nearly every political reaction is that of some fool bleating out the party line. It’s so common that I can see why you might have your brain adjusted to be able to see so little else.
but some of us knew what a bad idea was back when Pelosi said it. And even if we are willing to acknowledge the possibility of changing circumstances and reconsider, our ideas in light of new circumstances, the tariffs remained a bad idea when Trump first started talking about them, and they remain a bad idea now.
And since you take that from a Sowell fan account, I’m willing to go out of women and say that’s pretty much what Sowell would say.

If you haven’t realized yet, you can’t have a discussion with a right winger that educates himself with right wing Memes and hot take tweets from paid Russian influencers.
They need kindergarten level simplicity and word pictures. Ghost of Gary has probably had tariffs explained to him no less than 5 times in the last two days and yet he is still stuck on right wing spin, memes and “whataboutisms”
When they reach this level of the cult, ridicule is best.
Remember, Democrats were for tariffs before they were against them.

Correction “A number of Democrats”
And some of them might’ve even learned their lesson, even if it took the worst kind of wake-up call … sort of like many of them were slow learners on the border issue and needed a bad wake-up call to think about it and maybe even consider doing something.
And a bunch of Republicans went from good ideas to bad ones, because they have to kiss the ring. Worse yet, they decide to. give the term “RINO” to those who can actually distinguish a good idea from a bad one, and who decide to adhere to principle.

You voted for a low IQ word salad DEI candidate. That is the cult you belong to, Hyena-nette.

Your reaction to having voted for Pelosi’s policy is different from what I would have expected.
Trump was based and playing 5d chess after all. These policies will cause the collapse of capitalism and degrowth necessary to make a significant difference in fighting climate change.
After crashing the stock market, Trump is now in FL for the rest of the week hosting the Saudi-owned LIV golf league at his course.
Trump is running circles around Putin in blatant corruption, extortion and self dealing.

Wrong, libbie. Pelosi doesn't know jack. Nice try, Egg Boy.
I'm hoping Trump makes tariffs a weekly thing. Every Thursday just get out on the Lawn and hammer home some more awesome tariffs on our enemies.

Or is he really just semiliterate?

No No No, that was ron klaine and friends. biden was napping and/or out of it. You can blame all those people for a second trump presidency because of their policies and the fact they inserted a terrible candidate instead of having an open primary. Muh democracy.
You don’t understand that difference between some and all.
like, all of your brain cells are dead.
Quiet now , the adults are talking

I also learned Trump will be skipping the dignified transfer of the 4 US soldiers that died. He will be at a LIV golf dinner instead.
Remember when he had Pence go to those during Trump 1.0 because they were boring to him and he would insult military people during their time of grief?
He’s quite a leader isn’t he?
