You’re right and it really sucks. For everyone. But common sense points post still stands correct. Palestinians don’t want peace. They could have it if they want. Easily. They want to be perennial martyrs as through history. Israel’s endgame is not the destruction and annihilation of Palestineans. As has been pointed out here, many Palestinians still live in Israel, Christians and Muslims alike, and exert influence. But Israel poses an existential threat for Iran and its terrorist proxies, which must be eliminated. No peace will ever come from that.
I'm not so sure Palestinians "could have peace if they want"... they are ruled by Hamas and they have been conditioned for decades to see Israel as evil. How are they just supposed to miraculously connect the dots and figure it out? It's like me saying Israel could have peace if they want by just protecting their border more. It's a bit more complicated.

Islamic Jihadists could have invaded our open borders any time since September 11, 2001. In 22 years they have not done so, because the US military, along with US allies, killed hundreds of thousands of them across the ocean before they ever got to the border. We should STILL be killing Islamic Jihadists, but we elected this Trump guy who was more the appeaser/pacifist type and he abandoned and disparaged the heroic military efforts in keeping America safe.

BTW, it seems to me that Israel’s arguably heavy-handed, perhaps at least semi-oppressive treatment of Gaza was thoroughly validated by this attack. Hamas managed that much capability despite Israel squeezing them. Imagine what Hamas would have (and no doubt use) if Israel loosened up?
I love the idea of Israel stopping the settlement BS, sealing as best possible both of their Palestinian boarders, and being done with it. Unfortunately, this attack strongly suggests that doing so might be suicidal.

I agree with your sentiment but how many weapons do the people in Gaza have? Hamas has maybe 10s of 1000s of missiles/rockets and the everyday people of Gaza have nothing. Just imagine living in a place about the size of Philly, and the radical militants there who have beheaded babies and burned alive women and children control everything. What are they going to do?
