I knew that I would flush you out seattle prattle. It really is a great song live, and early in their careers
You dirty dog, working on something late and was just about to go to bed, but quick check over here first, and you pull out that gem...
And then the Part 2 of that song reminds me of another one of that era, in the sense of slow and somber and moody. And of course I had to listen to that, too.
Court of the Crimson King came out when I was in high school. Didn't get into it until freshman year in college. Not hard to believe that Dark Side... and ...Crimson King are #1 and #2 on the all-time progressive rock lists.
You could say that the 1960s and 1970s were the Cambrian-Paleozoic eras of Modern Music.

Yeah, similar, though with Court of the Crimson King being released in 1969, I was a little younger than HS then.
The music back then tended to bake itself quite seriously. It had this air of righteousness. As rock evolved, it seemed to lose a bit of that and became a little less preachy. Existential focus evolved into just nihilistic abandon and, you know, let's party to the death!
WIth Dark Side, I have to say, from the moment I heard it, I was not impressed. Seened ti theatrical for my tastes. Still can't listen to it, thoug I like some of Roger Waters' solo work later. Radio Chaos, for example, and that whole album.
I've been listening to Filipino superband IV of Spades on repeat the past several months after they reunited after a 5-year hiatus (and 7-years since the lead singer left the band). Why would someone in the US who isn't Filipino and doesn't understand Tagalog get obsessed about a Filipino band? YouTube algorithms, I guess, and liking their 70's (to '90s), sometimes Beatles-esque sound. I say superband because individually, they are super musically talented with the bassist (Zild) winning the Philippine's bass hero title (and starring in a bass battle with bass YouTuber Davie504) and the guitarist (Blaster) winning the guitar hero title as kids. They also had decent solo careers in the band's hiatus, especially the bassist. Despite the hiatus, they still look like little kids (Asians don't raisin). Reunited, they seem very happy playing together, sayings that egos/ambitions that got in the way of the no longer do after they've had their years playing solo.
Not sure how playlists appear in posts. The song Aura was the first drop, has the most views, and sets the vibe for the album. I like Konsensya (even if the lyrics make you go nooo! at points as a guy) because the video has them playing (even if the music is from the studio). Guitar with shades of U2, the song is just a well-constructed rock song. Rewind is a happy song and all the fans go crazy when the drummer (who doesn't sing lead often) starts singing. Some of the lyrics are in English, otherwise the YouTube autotranslate CC works for most of the songs (or lyrics sites).
The one song that a fantastic jam ended too early, and sudden.
The raw power of those guys! I like Born to Be Wild too, but it took on all kinds of counter-culture overtones when it became so prominent in the movie Easy Rider, became hard to think of it just as a rebellious head banger hard rock dirge.
Here's another of their bigger than life hits from back that unfolds in a loose jam like delivery. God damn, the pusher man!
