I think most voters have absolutely no idea how a few extremely wealthy conservative donors have organized and developed systems to completely dominate our political system. Their approach has been a multi-pronged effort from making direct contributions, to creating tax free think tanks, to owning major media outlets, to even providing conservative grants and training opportunities for students and judges.
Where do you think the citizens United ruling emanated from. Where do you think this tax plan came from. Where do you think getting rid of estate taxes came from.
This is a very powerful, well organized group. Richard Mellon Scaife, the koch brothers just to name a couple. Most of you have NO idea what you are dealing against. Soros is peanuts compared to this very powerful group.
These billionaires are extremely driven to protect what they think is theirs and to protect their legacy. They play to win. The middle class are like third world people to them. They can't relate and don't really care.
They are on both sides, with a larger number of wealthy democrat donors and a smaller more concentrated number of “veteran” republican donors. Note that’s what makes the latter more influential, they’ve been around the block and understand how to run politics.
One of the easy examples of the power of the republican donors is how they controlled the climate change narrative. Gotta hand it to them, they were able to convince a good chunk of the population that climate change is a hoax or at the very least they cast doubt on the hard science which is universally accepted (accept in dumberica). Much of their wealth comes from the subsidized energy sector, so I don’t need to explain the incentives behind this.

GOP has majority in the House, Senate, and the Executive branch. They control the government. What do they need to actual get the work of the government done? Complete one party control of the government like the communist in China or Putin’s fascists in Russia? That’s what people like extrower (aka truthseakr) are saying...why are you so anti-America and Anti-democracy truthseakr? Everyone knows the shutdown is totally the GOPs—and more specifically unstable, irrational Trump’s—fault.

Lets see if the "weekend shutdown" continues on Monday. I still believe the republicans should get rid of the filibuster rule. It leads to abuse and misuse like we see today. I hope they release the memo on Monday. Flagpole needs some medicine.
Shutdown=GOPs fault, 100% wrote:

A great deal maker doesn’t turn down a bi-partisan bill that was sitting on his desk.
A terrible deal maker escalates differences by making extremely insensitive and racist comments.
^This. LOL!!!

LOL@the GOP! They also did the exact same thing with taxes (while starting 2 wars) in the early 2000s resulting in the economic meltdown of 2007. Yet they seem determined to basically repeat history. What is wrong with GOP voters that they are so easily fooled over and over again?

Now is the time for our enemies to sneak across the border and attack whilst we have "no funding" for the Military. Be careful of the Mexicans and Canadians. The Spaniards have these three wooden ships, the Cubans are amassing missiles, the English want their taxes back.
Yes, exactly ^this!!! It is always us vs THEM. THEY are taking everything from us! It’s all THEIR fault!!! All of our problems are due to THEM!!!

The self-proclaimed “great deal maker” had a bi-partisan bill on his desk. It’s tough to make a deal when you put racism before country.
Yup, it is very clear Trump is racist based on his words and policy positions. It’s hard to argue with that point. The only other possibility is he is not personally racist but knows many people who voted for him are so he is simply pandering to them with racist policies.

Per the Cheeto Jesus himself, the POTUS is responsible for government shutdowns. Additionally, his comments imply the POTUS should be fired for shutdowns as problems start from the top. I completely agree Mr. President and will happily accept your resignation letter now.

Trump said this in 2013:
“Well, if you say who gets fired it always has to be the top,” Trump said. “I mean, problems start from the top and they have to get solved from the top and the president’s the leader. And he’s got to get everybody in a room and he’s got to lead.” He said that further down in history, “when they talk about the government shutdown, they’re going to be talking about the president of the United States, who the president was at that time.” “They’re not going to be talking about who was the head of the House, the head the Senate, who’s running things in Washington,” Trump said. “So I really think the pressure is on the president,” he added.
I've been trying to find the video clip where he said that. I know it was on Fox and Friends, but I haven't been able to locate it.
Here it is...

If we are talking about an average Republican voter, there is some variation of believing it will work regardless of what facts are presented. And then the political power elite basically use it as a lever to make themselves more powerful.
An interesting side note, one opinion out there suggests the continuing resolutions are being used for the express purpose of passing other legislation having nothing to do with spending. Also interesting is there is some dynamics about budget sequestering that are in play at the moment that I don't fully understand.
So, overall, it benefits the party in power to not pass a budget.

Ummm ... the extensions is 100% republican created. ZERO .... ZERO ... input from dems was allowed. If the imbecile repubs want to pass the funding extension they need to give something to the dems to get it done. That is why 60 votes are required; to force both side to work together.
Repubs are 100% responsible for the shutdown. They are 100% incapable of governing.

Um, are you sure about your first statement? It seems republican voters are pretty unified in their unwavering belief about the magic of tax cuts.

Trump just doesn’t care about the truth or what he’s said in the past. He just says whatever he thinks will help him in that moment and it doesn’t matter to him at all if what he says is true or not, or if he said the exact opposite thing in the past. The unique thing is that no other politician in the world could get away with the amount of lies he does - and the only reason he gets away with it is because his supporters don’t care about truth. I think he could get all of his fans to drink poisoned kool aid and even tell them it was poisoned before they drank it and they’d still drink it if he told them too. Crazy times.
Frightening but true!

FYI: The tax cuts votes were bought. Immediately after the vote Ryan got a cool $500,000 from the Koch Bros days after the bill passed.

That’s not surprising. Ryan is an awful human being. History will not be kind to him. His wife, children, and people of Wisconsin should be embarrassed and ashamed of him.
Democrats are willing to shut down the government unless they get amnesty for illegals......
There in no denying the truth of this statement.....

Incorrect. The GOP controls Congress and the executive branch, thus this is their shutdown. Everyone who isn’t ignorant or mentally ill agrees.
