Yes, in all the places you'd want to look for a coaching job...
Is coastal carolina jumps possition open?
Any word on who is being considered for the Seattle University job? Are they interviewing? What's taking so long?
Agreed, at risk of sounding like a broken record on this thread, what's taking so long on all the jobs?
thanks for your sarcasm/help. Thought we were referring a HC job similar to what opened there a few years back...

No supposedly about it.
Coach Dennis "expects to have the search completed in the next two weeks".
Meanwhile, "continue on your summer programs as suggested."
Any ideas on who the replacement will be?
SEC people: How and why would you rank the three cross country jobs available right now in the SEC?
wow first Barnett now Kevin, wonder what's going on there at APU?
Sombody mentioned earlier that coastal carolina jumps possition is available. Where is it posted?
Barnett left because it was too hard for him to work with Kevin's style. Kevin took the head job at... LaVerne? One of those schools nearby.

No word ... athletes have no idea.
At least the SeattleU Chieftains AD woke up to the fact that the program wasn't going anywhere with the Steidls in charge. They did have a gal win the WAC cross country title last fall, and they usually did well as a team in cross country, but they'd consistently get waxed at regionals.I think that the high school coaches around the state didn't think too much of the Steidls, especially when comparing the SU program to Gonzaga. Same type of Catholic school, similar tuition rate, better coaching, better athlete development at Gonzaga.Pat Tyson and Patty Ley at Gonzaga have a lot more credibility when it comes to developing distance runners than the Steidls even hope to have.Their throws/jumps/multis coach was far and away the best coach on their staff. Whoever is the new coach should at least keep him for at least a season.

The team has talent on both sides of the program (men/women) including a host of guys who have dipped under 15 for 5k, one who has run 14:27, and another sub 3:50 guy (this is all with poor coaching). Additionally, the fact that SeattleU (competing in the WAC) can offer the opportunity to win conference titles in both ITF/OTF is something that the WCC can't bring to the table. I would disagree with the existing sentiment on the message board that there isn't an institutional commitment to the program. I would argue that the fact the administration decided to move on from the Steidl regime (12 years) is evidence to that fact. Additionally, there is a talented and well liked Sprints/Jumps/Multis coach who has sent athletes to NCAAs and won WAC individual titles with very few resources at his disposal. Very few situations are perfect but the job at SeattleU is much more attractive than people who know very little about the team/school on these message boards have deemed it to be.
I will tell you with 100% assurety that Admins commitment to the team financially is and will be staying the same as it has been. The fact the men have some talent is fortunate but not sustainable with 2.5 to work with. The women's side is graduating their two best and only have one returner who is decent. The women's team also has 2.5 scholarships to work with and that simply will not be able to get it done. MAYBE with a hell of a recruiting coordinator or coach you could stay marginally competitive but the other schools in the WAC have more money and will win out in the end. The currrent coach on staff is well liked by the athletes and has coached some talent however the problem lies in the lack of money for the program- there is NO CHANCE to field a competitive track team- therefore taking any scholarship away from the 2.5 and splitting XC/TF would make both sports exceptionally poor. Seattle U needs to become a distance program and needs a healthy endowment of money to increase scholarships. All of this makes this position much less desirable than you think.
Any idea who Bob is hiring at Florida State?
