It's fine -- but there's a lot of heresy -- I want a smoking gun. You can dislike someone's personality but none of y'all will go on the record saying David Roche personally done you dirty.
Stay scared!
Not sure what that means.
Okay, ask David to repost his picture from yesterday. Guess what, he won’t. Because he knows it’s from 2023
I see the image on the Grindstone Strava activity, and I see a screenshot on Reddit of his recent IG story.
They both show a swolen L ankle, but they're not remotely the same picture. Am I missing something?
The accusation seems like a totally unnecessary line of attack, that somehow has gained traction.
Oh I see. Yeah the evidence is inconclusive. Not the same exact photo but does look like two different photos of the same injury. His IG photo includes shoes he doesn’t wear anymore, so that would lead me to believe that it’s from 2023
The hate here for David is so out of control that now the conspiracy theories have begun.
The truth is he tweaked his ankle, couldn't podium and took the DNF. If he had run his own race (instead of chasing Eli), and not had the ankle injury, he would have taken second.
Not bad considering he was using Big Alta as a training run in preparation for Western States.

Thank you. I have mostly given up on this thread. It's like 3-4 guys who hate Roche for reasons that aren't entirely clear, then have a circle-jerk making up sh-t about him.
I sent the screenshot of the photo in his IG story to a friend who is a big fan of Roche's, so I have it on my computer and went back and looked and they're not even remotely close to the same photo.
Yet these morons on here are now saying that "everyone on Reddit is saying the same thing!" that's it's a fake photo when (a) that's not true, and (b) wait for it...it's the same morons who are posting on LRC.
The "mean girls" nature of this thread is pathetic. What is Roche supposed to say? He said his big, dream goal is to win Western States. Occasionally he acknowledges it's a long shot but that he is all-in and going for it and that he wants to "shoot his shot." Nothing wrong with that except to you losers. I've talked to a number of folks who find it inspiring, but whatever.
Then he goes to Big Alta and Hemming is clearly a way better 50k runner and again wait for it... Roche says so! Says he sprained his ankle but that he was already in way over his head and that it wasn't going to end well anyway. Also says he's not in Eli's class. Nothing wrong with that except to you losers (recurring theme here).
The mods were right to delete this thread. I'm popping up occasionally mainly just for the random passerby to know that 99.99% of this thread is malicious BS.
One thing I posted a few weeks ago and was never denied: my theory is that the 3-4 guys who are posting most of this lying cr-p are MAGA supporters who hate Roche because he's clearly politically liberal. It was one of my few comments that didn't get any push-back. And it follows the MAGA playbook: make up sh-t, spread it, then use the "rumors" as more proof.
The irony here is that it sure looks like Roche is getting increasingly popular. You suckers lose.
Listen. It’s really not hard to figure out the photo that was on his IG stories is a photo of his ankle from Grindstone, not from Big Alta. He was wearing the exact same Hoka Mafates at Grindstone when he rolled his ankle, two years ago. In the picture of his ankle from Big Alta, he’s wearing those SAME shoes. Weird, since he stopped using Hokas a while ago and swears by Adidas now…
I have other definitive proof that the picture he posted on his IG stories is from the same ankle sprain at Grindstone, but I refuse to get doxed on this site.

Nice try, loser. Though maybe the joke is on me because you got me to look. There is nothing in those photos that shows anything the same as the IG photo from this weekend.
If you have "definitive proof," post it. You lot have been on a crusade to smear a minor celebrity in the ultra world, and you're too scared to identify yourself? Seems pretty telling.
Still haven't gotten any push-back on my "MAGA mob goes after liberal, touchy-feely ultra-runner with ridiculous and fabricated accusations" theory. Also seems pretty telling.
He’s literally wearing the exact same Hokas at Grindstone that he’s wearing in the photo of his sprained ankle that he posted for Big Alta. It’s pretty easy to see, bucko.
Stand down, Skuj. You said yourself you have't been on this thread.
Dozens of pages ago I posted some stuff that was critical of Roche. For example, I said he never lied about saying he could run sub-4:00 because he said it was an aspirational target, but I also said that there is no way in hell that he can run sub-4:00. I also think there's no way he can run the "infamous" treadmill 6 x mile outdoors on a track. But he acknowledged that too. I also said that I believed that some of his online athletes had a bad experience because they didn't get the individualization they were hoping for.
I don't think that Roche is beyond reproach, just that this thread is unhinged.

David, almost certainly, participated in this thread by pretending to be a chatbot for several weeks about a month or so ago. He was completely trying to derail the criticisms against him, but his posts were quite entertaining. He even had a long post making fun of "Umm, no..." for being a bit of a nincompoop. I miss ChatbotDavid...

But was he acting alone?*
Ok, eff it, this is my last post in this thread. I still know hardly anything about Roche, nor do I care. (But the Sub4 thing bothered me. Clearly, I should have run a 3:45.) 😂
I'll still lurk though! Especially because I really do believe Roche is among us!! He is here!! 😂

If you got real proof, post it. I can't even tell who Roche is in these photos because of the poor resolution, but I'll play along and accept that he was wearing Hokas in the photo from this weekend. It doesn't prove anything. The freetrail guys said he was at the after-party talking to people for some time after the race, so not exactly a stretch to think that he changed shoes. So what. He's not sponsored by a shoe company, and most people wouldn't walk around in their super shoes for hours after a race.
Like I said, if you have "real" evidence, share it. Otherwise shut the F up.
