With Kelly Carter going to Georgia Southern (allegedly) that doesn't leave many remaining at MTSU that are qualified to be Head Coaches. But then again, we're talking about Tenn Tech.

No offense to Jordan Fife, he was a fine runner; but its a sad state of affairs if the state's second largest school can only hire a volunteer high school coach to head it's cross country program. That program had a long run of success until recently.
Jordan would do a great job at a program like Missouri St. Very knowledgeable, personable, industrious. He's got the building blocks to succeed. All that is missing is experience and trial by fire works very well. Sink or swim and Jordan will definitely swim!

Jordan will not have success at Missouri State but it will be no fault of his own - it will be because of Ron Boyce.
The guy hasn't even started yet (mind you with NO experience), and you are already blaming his supervisor for the failure if the distance runners.
Jordan will be an exceptional coach and he learned from an exceptional coach. John Mcnicohls is hands down the best coach in the conference and one of the best coaches there is. When ISU hired Mcnicohls he had very little experience...30ish yrs later and countless conference titles later I would say it worked out quite well. If given the opportunity and freedom to run the distance program as he sees fit this program will improve significantly in the next few years.
College athletics is much different now than it was 30 yrs ago when McNichols was getting his foot in the door.
Agreed, but that has nothing to do with someone getting an opportunity and taking advantage of it. There are lots of coaches who got one opportunity and made the most of it even if they had very little experience. Some will falter due to lack of experience, but knowing Jordan he isn't one of those people. MSU needs a change and someone young, energetic, extremely familiar with the conference, and learned from a great coach sounds like a good hire to me.

Yet another BS hire. This profession has becoming a joke. When more people without experience can get hired over people with experience.

Yes. I'm saying that it wouldn't matter who they hired because Boyce is a plague on the distance program there. I like Jordan but he shouldn't have taken this job.

Hayes is coaching Leo, who's running really well right now, so it's not like he can't show any coaching success while he's in between jobs.

Hayes is an excellent coach, but I don't know about "made Texas a really good team." Their distance crew was pretty good under Jason Vigilante.
