Turns out it’s not that hard to impress the YouTube crowd, they eat that stuff up. The only problem is he has to back it up, and there’s no way to fake that. His sprained ego, I mean “ankle” will get him tons of support though. Deception is a powerful drug.
so, David probably did have a sprained ankle, but if you look at the picture of him saying hi to his kid, his ankle looks fine. Compare that to the pic shared on his IG story, which is a sprained and ballooned ankle with the rest of the leg covered up by a pair of pants. I'm not saying that David faked his sprained ankle and used a fake picture on his IG...but that is what I'm saying
Most likely used a pic from Grindstone when he actually sprained his ankle last year. What a hero.

oh, interesting. did he upload a pic at the time of his sprained ankle?
is this the LetsRun equivalent of "mistakes were made"?
I'll believe that when they restore the Allie Ostrander is thriving under her new coach David Roche and the David Roche, new Leadville 100 course record said he averaged 65-75 mpw in the build up threads.
Those threads had nothing to do with what's going on here.

I mean if he actually did sprain his ankle and then run on it for miles there's no way it would look normal in that one pic and then blown up like in his IG story pic

I’m not sure as I’m not on social, but I wonder if it can be dug up, that would be hilarious.
Found it. It's the same exact picture as the one David used at Grindstone. I can't provie it because he only uploaded the pic of his most recent "sprain" to his IG story, but it's the same picture
Ankle sprain at mile 8.5 or so, then got the same ankle SO BADLY around mile 11. Tried to run it off, but it was not happening. On the plus side, felt good until then! Full of so much gratitude in moments like this. Thank you...
TLDR: David used the picture he took of his sprained ankle at Grindstone 2023 and posted it on his most recent IG story as "evidence" of the "sprained ankle" he got his weekend

I knew it! What a clown. I hope he gets outed for this. It’s an embarrassment to the pro field and to the sport. Oh, and also an embarrassment to him.

someone should ask him about it on his Strava or IG. I'd bet $1000 he either won't respond or will delete the question
Now that I'm vaguely invested in this thread, I gotta say this is getting better!!
I thought of a little joke:
What does a sub 4 mile and a sprained ankle have in common?
Neither of them belong to David Roche.
to be fair to the sprained ankle, David did have a sprained ankle that caused him to drop out of a race and he did take a picture of it, but that happened in 2023, not 2025
What happens when you train for a 100-mile ultramarathon exclusively with sprint workouts and fuel your body with nothing but human breast milk? Well… we’re about to find out.

Will David address the fact that he took the photo of his sprained ankle from Grindstone 2023 and uploaded it to his IG Stories yesterday as "evidence" of the "sprained ankle" that caused him to drop out of the 50k?

Just to restate: the photo that David uploaded to his IG story yesterday of the ankle that he sprained from the 50k was actually a photo of his sprained ankle from Grindstone 2023

Someone please out this guy on IG or Strava. I don’t have IG and he blocked me on Strava otherwise I’d be all over it.

The thing is if just a few randos tried to either comment on David's post with a fact like this or made their own post, David would block them and/or no one would see it anyways. It would take: a lot of people, people like Sage, articles like the ones about Camille.
As it stands now, LetsRun isn't the worst place to spread the news. The Brojos have undeleted this thread multiple times and people are becoming aware.
This reddit thread on r/ultrarunning mentions not only David's DNF but the fact that he used a picture from Grindstone 2023 as "proof" of his recent "sprained ankle"
