How can Morgan received unemployment benefits if his contract will expire and is not renewed?

Had it happen to me awhile back. New head coach, staff not renewed.

I qualified for benefits, but the hoops to jump through were extensive and a lot of state make you take whatever comes up. I ended up getting another job before I got real far in the process.

A unrenewed coach can probably get benefits but will likely find it not worthwhile.

I don’t understand how there is an opening at Kentucky in the first place. Let alone why Certain names are continually being brought up. It’s crazy our profession has turned into ‘one that is not based on results. Flo knows has not one any conference championships and the one national team trophy came due to a gang of transfers (including a coach) from the old regime at Clemson University. Good guy, strong recruiter to land Sydney, but to be chosen over many other consistently conference and national trophy coaches is crazy to me. Would never happen in college football or basketball. More importantly only one sex has performed. How is that level of difference in performance ignored. I’ve watched/read the interview of many of these coaches in recent weeks. Our hiring in this sport sucks. Not results oriented and that’s why we will continue to be a forgotten sport in our athletic departments. It shouldn’t take 10yrs to get gender performance equality and you’re the head coach of a program. That goes for FLo knows and the names being thrown out to replace him. Hire someone who can be competitive. Even if it’s a winning assistant coach. Why recycle the same head coaches hat have shown what they can/will do?? A bigger ‘school’ won’t change the same 4/5 schools competing for a national trophy every year. New Head coaching blood is needed in our sport. I hope Kentucky understands that.

Well at least Kentucky is going after competitive head coaches. I read a press release about hiring a new guy and heard the head coach say Phase-1 of rebuilding a program when she described the completion of her staff. It’s a sad day as an alumni when Tennessee has been tricked into this different phases narrative. How many did phases did Petros(UGA) or Carol(USC) or even Floreal(uK) Need to get things going? How many years does it take to replace a star like Coleman. Or build a TEAM. Millions of dollars of budget&scharship to only have one athlete. I’ll tell you what phase I’m hoping is over soon: The BAS phase in Knoxville! When Kentucky is producing better results than Tenn how on Earth does she still have a job? Never would be the case if it was football in Knoxville. Join the ‘are you kidding me club’ with me! We’ll take Lonnie if they don’t want him. At least we’ll be back competing as a team nationally.

Non contract renewal is a softer way to say "you're fired". So he can apply for unemployment.

UVA didn't want to talk to any high school girls who hadn't run 10:10 or faster for 3200. Had a recruit who wanted to attend, but had only run 10:22 at that time so they told her it wasn't worth wasting anyone's time talking. Fair enough, but I don't see them getting too many sub-10:10 girls.

I am in agreement with these points because although I have nothing personally against Floreal, what does he bring different to Texas than they had? They have always had a handful of incredible athletes, even winning Oly medals. -- But no team success. And what did Floreal do in Ky? Answer: the same exact thing . If you want a team championship, hire a guy who's already done it, or an assistant from a program who's done it as part of a winning coaching staff. Otherwise if you hire a head coach from another program you know exactly what you're getting when they ran a program for 5 or 10 years and you can see his or her record, and its a fixed pattern. Is it going to change? Maybe, but likely not. At least giving an assistant a chance to be new head coach is a 50/50 shot they could be different. New coaching blood would be good.

Have you been hiding under a rock somewhere??! Flo took Kentucky from one of worst teams in Ncaa under Weber, to Ncaa runner-ups in a few years!!!! His men’s teams have been solid as well placing top 20 at Ncaa’s! Men take longer with 12.6 scholarships! One of the biggest turnarounds in Ncaa history! The guy earned the Texas Job without doubt!

I find this very unlikely.

I’d take a dozen 10:30 girls and sprinkle in an occasional stud or two or a foreign ace and be a top 15 team every year at NCAA XC’s.

They are fully funded and give plenty of distance scholarships- no reason whatsoever to turn down a kid running those times especially for a partial scholarship. Full? Now that’s probably a matter of spending philosophy so I could see that but zero chance they wouldn’t toss a partial.

Any news on open throws jobs that are opening soon or about the ones that are already open?

Who will EF pursue for his staff at UT?

Are they any big name Head Coaches who might consider moving to Austin to work with their event areas for big $$$, and one last chance at an NCAA Championship?

Will this be the opportunity for EF to assemble and all-star, avengers type staff?

If so, who would that be? What events would he coach?

If you know EF you would know he doesn’t want an all-star staff, he wants grinders/yes men. They’re gonna do what he says no questions asked and will grind hard(just not as hard as him of course)

where does Tonja end up ?

Nowhere this year. Still has her post collegiates in Austin, a year of getting paid left from Texas, and two kids in school.
