No, far older than that. I was national class PR 2:19:15 Boston 1974, 13th place(thanks agip for the upgrade). Olympic Trials 1972 and 1976.

Thanks for the props; appreciated. Certified loop course 30 Kilometer, AAU Champion 1974. There was a fella that had run faster point to point net downhill. Forget his name. Anyway I ran 1:35:30 or about 5:08 per mile. The distance is rarely run anymore. So a good run for me. Back at that time 15 kilometer and 10 miles races were much more frequently raced than half-marathons. I ran one half marathon as a young man 1:06, all downhill. Bleeding and blistered and in 3rd place, I believe. I was consistent top ten US List 1973-1975. I did not run well in either Olympic years. In 1972 qualified first time out in 2:22:20. In 1976 I was in graduate school and really wasn't putting in the necessary training.

I really don't assume anything other than your intention to "give me the business" (Wally's line in Leave it to Beaver).

I suppose be it a runner, coach or advisor I am old school. The formula would look something like this:

runner = averaged 110 miles a week 1970-1976

coach = recruited work ethic above athletic talent

advisor = rely on fundamental investment metrics

If someone has a better way to any of the above, good for them. It just doesn't work for me.

No qualms about runner or coach (though I don't know much about that one). But there's obviously a better way as an advisor. Your poor clients are suffering thanks to you.

Fair enough. Someone that actually manages money should be balancing reward against risk. My view is the 10 Year Treasury will perform as well as the Dow over the next decade. So my view of risk versus reward is not tied to the short term performance of the Dow, which I have pointed out several times on 11/4/2016 was similar to year end 12/2014.

That's all fine and good, but it has nothing to do with "Limiting risk allows one to compound at a faster rate." Since you're dancing around the subject instead of admitting you made a mistake, I must assume that it wasn't a mistake. They just leaves me shaking my head as I realize that you are actually managing some peoples' hard earned money. There should be a law.
