This thread was deleted because it didn't seem to be serving any productive purpose. We are restoring it and making it so registered users can only post.
The thread didn't seem any different than thousands of other threads that are on Letsrun. It is a public discourse about shady business practices, and the repeated lies, exaggerations, and contradictions made by a public figure within their very publicized social media presence. The only difference between this thread and countless others on this message board is likely that it made the subject cry on their podcast.
The thread is 80 pages long. That is very different. We don't have an 80 page thread on Jakob Ingebrigtsen and he is the most popular runner on LetsRun.
But it is back and mods are being told not to delete it.

I'm a bit disappointed that communication for deletion of posts/temporary deletion was about the topic "not serving it's purpose" or "going off topic".
The topic had multiple homophobic posts.
I think it would have been good practice (and morally sound) to remind posters to not be homophobic or use any form of discrimination. Instead of ignoring the issue. It feels as if belittling those of us who were personally deeply offended by some of the comments.
Thank you, Ultra Bear, for being there to police the world’s morals. Your view is the only one that matters. You do realize your asinine posts single handily kept the discussion on that topic which will not be mentioned about David Roche, right? Almost every thread about the dude discuss that unmentionable topic, and moves on from it almost immediately, because it ultimately no one cares. Now let us get back to what is important, talking about the dude’s misleading business practices, lies, narcissism, and nose strips.
First he lost the Gold Hill segment to two guys doing a taper workout, now he is going home devastated from the Big Alta 50k. It's not looking good for Roche's chances at Western States.

....One day, I swear...
...I will look up this "David Roche"....
....But not today, though.....
...I thought about it today...
...But I'm doing other things, I guess...
...Maybe next week, or maybe if/when this gets to 100 pages...
Oh, Roche has dropped out of the Big Alta 50k 2025 at mile 23.
How are they going to frame this one in the video series? A bunch of B roll for videographer Cody? As I look at the results right now, only two people have dropped. Pretty shameful if you ask me.
Meanwhile Kilian doesn't have his best day at Chianti, but fights through a TFL/hip injury while putting ego aside to finish 2nd place, about 28 minutes behind Jim.
The truth is that David finally toed the line with a couple of A listers, got taken to the limit, and cracked. But we will get a good ankle roll/food poisoning/whatever else he comes up with story out of it on the podcast.
I was expecting an FKT on every trail in Marin County out of David, or at least a sub 4 mile on those downhills. They are about as fast as you can find. He mentioned on the Freetrail video how he trained for the race and was clearly ready to roll based on all of his posts and normal uber positivity. I’m not sure dropping is on brand. Isn’t he supposed to uplift and inspire? Show the community his grit? That he’s willing to go where no one else is willing? Thrives in the pain cave? The spin will be interesting. It probably was not really an A race. He wasn’t training specifically for it. He didn’t want to push that deep so far from Western. I don’t listen to the podcast, so please keep me updated good people of this thread! Huzzah. You guys are awesome.

Woah. Can't wait for the podcast and what he will say why he couldn't finish. My bet is his ego couldn't handle not finishing in the Top 3. On a day when Kilian fights his way to the finish for 2nd while being in noticeable pain and going back and forth with Vincent even though 3rd would have been enough for a Golden Ticket.. I'm a little disappointed. Where's the grit from those workout videos, David?! Couldn't have jogged the last few miles for an honest finish?!
Who else thinks it's time for him to change his handle from mountainroche to treadmillroche. Can't even run on buff California singletrack without biffing it.
Too bad about the apparent sprained ankle. He was wearing the Adidas Speed Ultras. At least it wasn't something dumb like a road super shoe (he's talked about doing that on some trails). He seems to have a lot of ankle issues. Was hoping for a complete race to see how all the talk compares to his current shape.
