No return correspondence or reply by the Director of X-C/Track and Field or the AD. Looking at the previous coaches, the two coaches inquiring are light years better with WAY MORE experience. Just like the Nevada Reno gig, look at who's running the show. Not seeing any love for the distances.

Having good coaches isn't a thing for a lot of schools these days. They only what to know what you did as a runner and that somehow makes you a good coach. Davis hasn't even posted the job so that tells me they will just stick with Shaddy and don't care about the current season.

This guy was fired from his last job and I believe other jobs before Ozark - how long will he last at VMI? So let’s refresh this post when this guy doesn’t make it past XC season and is getting ridiculed for losing to Furman.
The Director of VMI - Zack Scott - is the real horrific hire. The stories coming from his former assistants, coaches in the Southern Conference, and coaches that attend their indoor meets (mostly d3 schools because Scott wants to brag about his runner getting 3rd place in a race with only 5 people in it) say this guy is at dumb as they get. Disorganized, incompetence, micromanages, athletes hate him, alumni want him gone, high school coaches can’t stand him….its bad.
This hire is in line with the Director - total clown show like someone else posted earlier and my favorite term for this summers hires.

I do not know most of these coaches that many of you are trashing but wow!! I would absolutely hate to have any of you on a staff with me. What a bunch of bitter losers! To absolutely trash nearly every coach that is hired says more about you than them. Now of course we don’t know who you are but anyone that believes the crazies on here is nuts themselves. You should all take care of finding a job you like rather than trashing everyone that gets hired.
Guys are getting hired straight out of college more than in the past because many of them have competed for their school longer than in the past due to Covid and other eligibility extensions. Think about it, if an athlete has been at a school for 6-7 years, they’ve probably outlasted multiple coaching staffs themselves. Many of these types of athletes would’ve been a GA during their last year or two had they not had eligibility left. They obviously don’t want to leave the sport.
Re: hires straight out of college - It seems like it’s happening a lot at the D1 level. I wouldn’t be surprised if schools are intentionally doing that as they’re forced to tighten their belts and make tougher choices with the settlement in place. Why hire a coach with 15 years of experience and have to pay them $70k when you can hire someone with little to no coaching experience and pay them half? Especially if, as a department, you don’t actually prioritize the success of those teams, and you only care that they a) have a coach and b) keep bringing in student-athletes. Not saying this is every place (or even any place), but I wouldn’t be surprised if that becomes more of a trend moving forward.

I take this back. Sounds like SCAD Savannah and SCAD Atlanta will be combining programs on the Atlanta campus next fall and Savannah rides with an interim for the time being
