Interview is up on MileSplit. She said today was to focus on hills and run easy on the downhills. She thought she could have been 15-20 seconds better with an all out effort. Wasn't shooting for the course record but thought if she had a good workout she'd be close. She confirmed she has only run hard a couple times this year - she didn't say which races but it's pretty obvious those were Rhode Island and Holmdel. She seemed to indicate she will run hard this Thursday at the Rockland county championships at Bear Mountain.

I'll be there . Anyone else going ?

Ah, the old "don't quote the original post" ruse, so no one can see that YOUR intellectually stimulating, substantive contribution was "Please stop posting and get a life."
Freakin' amateur. lol

Foot Locker for Tuohy!!
Seriously, you're congratulating a girl that runs 20:42 with a PB of 19:50?? She ain't getting back to that this year.
Don't be so sure. She started by running 21:42 at Ocean, then went 21:09 at Holmdel (a slower course) and is now down to 20:42 at Bowdoin (some would say is an even slower course). Yes, she is trending in the right direction.
Last year at NXR (at Bowdoin):
Tuohy was 1st
Morales was 13th in 19:17
Pezzementi was 33rd in 19:50
Ruffino was 72nd in 20:57
Grall was 97th in 21:35
They are much better this year. The top 5 could all be sub 20 by NXR
Let's see how it ends...
I am not sure why North Rockland is not ranked 4th right now in NY by Dyestat.
They have not run all their top 7 all at once yet this year (Tuohy, Morales, Ruffino, Fagelman, Pezzementi, Keller and Dellamedaglia)
Pezzementi is improving fast, she should be ahead of Fagelman and maybe even Ruffino by the next race.

Yep, exactly what I've been saying for quite some time now. She can tell the difference going just over 1 second faster per quarter mile? Just call it a race, not this bullcrap that she wasn't going all out. I had a coach just like this, too funny. Try hard, but don't go ALL OUT. Yes, that'll really aid in recovery for a 16 year old. I wish her well and know she'll do well regardless of what they call it, but stop with the downplaying, there's too many dummies on this site that fall for it. Ridiculous.
You realize Katelyn did the same thing last year and, guess what, she improved about 20-25 seconds from her workout effort to her all out effort... stop pulling out bs, there is precedent here and it’s obvious that she wasn’t going all out. Clearly she can tell the difference....
You realize that it's not a workout, right? That she's in fact running very, very hard. It was 15-20 seconds over 5000 meters. Try to comprehend written factual words and don't change them for your convenience triggered jogger from Indiana. You know nothing about the verbal words that are part of the game. Get a clue or just shush ole fella;)
Call it what YOU want, she calls it a workout, yes a hard workout. https://www.lohud.com/videos/sports/2018/10/20/video-kaitlyn-touhy-breaks-her-record-bowdoin-park/1713330002/

It was a race, period. She's playing the "I wasn't trying my hardest" game. Yes, I'm sure she could have ran 1 minute faster:):):):):):):):)

She may be capable of sub 15:20 at this point but this is just the first season of the year. Indoors will be easier to compare head to head from last year.
I’m assuming the next race is at Bear Mountain and in the afternoon? Should be a good race. So Thursday afternoon? Man I wish I ran XC in hs.

Yes IDIOT, on the track!!! Gosh there are some REALLY STUPID people on here that make me wonder if they run at all.
I bet you thought you posted something really smart and I eye opening, eh? Hint: It wasn't.
about as smart as those who ignore what she says, and ignore the video of her run, and insist she raced!!!
Does it really matter whether she ran at 85%, 90%, 95% or 98% in a XC race in October which she won by over 2 minutes.
We can wait a couple of months and see how she actually does indoor.
In the short term, nobody was within 1:37 of her in any of her 5k races this fall. Maybe for fun she can go 100%, but there is really no point.

Says Duane the Idiot Hobby Jogger. I was there, at the race, you weren't. Facts are facts, it wasn't a workout and barely short of an all-out effort. Stay off the internet, it makes you look pathetic.

ur not sounding too smart yourself there. trust me, she was working hard, sorry that ur one of the people who can't see that.
"la gente ésta muy loca" if you are there any chance you can report back on any intermediate splits? I think the 1 1/2 mile point is close to start and finish, and maybe the 2 mile point as well?

No, do your own work. You'll still be proven wrong.
ok let me spell it out as I do not think you ("The Coarse") followed. The poster to whom I referred posted that he/she will attend the next race at Bear Mountain, where the course map shows the 1 1/2 mile and 2 mile points are very close to the start and finish. So I was not in any way referring to the race at Sunken Meadows.
"I'll be there . Anyone else going ?"
God only knows it should not be too much to ask what I requested, except for many of the low lifes who seem to thrive on these boards.

Gotta get those splits out there so you can tell if it's a workout or a race, eh Duane?
