I've always associated this poem with the Confucian notion that if you do not identify things properly, bad consequences will ensue. And so if we don't name this (presumably unambiguously both anatomically and physiologically ) boy a "boy," we are going to experience bad results.
Let's leave "transgender" for those truly intersex people, and not those who are confused or would just rather be what they are not.

Disco Gary has to be one of the funniest posters on here. When people make hurtful attacks on transgender folks it isn't a debate or conversation anymore. The rhetoric on here is the kind that causes people to lash out against transgender folks. You're talking about fascism. What a joke. Hate crimes are up because of who our president is. When you ignore facts and play on hate you bring out the worst in people.

Seriously, who on here is affected by this? What do the athletes competing think? I think most of them probably have much more compassion than the 30-40 year old men on here. Ya'll should take a lesson from kids younger than you and just support people for who they are. They're not causing anyone any pain at a small state meet in CT. imagine now a girls bball team filled that has 5 boys starting...is little suzy ever going to get to play? oh it doesnt stop there. now other schools need to compete, so they start 5 boys, it spreads like a disease. now you have a college coach recruiting these boys for his college womens team. and the NCAA is all about winning, check the kenyan imports in cross. so you will have the big schools having recruiting wars over the best trans and fill their teams with them. winning is the bottom line, so if you can have dudes claiming they are girls you can dominate!
then you will have womans football with all the lame dudes who couldnt make the mens team haha. say goodbye to womens athletics in 10yrs haha

Those real girls would get banned from school for speaking up, and you know it. This boy needs to go compete with the other boys. We are the only ones speaking out and calling this scam out. He is faking it.

If you don't personally know people who have transitioned from one gender to the other, then you should be careful about your strongly held opinion. Being transgendered is not like changing your hairstyle. It's an earthshattering decision that almost assuredly ostracizes you from your family and friends during the most critically vulnerable time in your life. Just understand it is not like coming out as gay... it's even 10 times more difficult, and the gay community doesn't necessarily embrace you/back you up either.
Having said that, I personally think athletic competition should be off limits for transgendered persons. It's just too complicated to keep the playing field equal.

Guys, I am happy to report that my transgender experiment went better than expected. Despite my facial hair, Adam's apple, penis, and big muscles, I was able to get into the girl's locker room and shamed them all for screaming at me because I am a transgender. After my thorough tongue lashing at them, they reciprocated.
