You also clearly think that David Epstein and the BBC have been damned near incompetent from the start, to say nothing of the other UK news outlets, that the testimony of the athletes and others who have come out against Salazar doesn't offer much, and that Salazar's extended middle finger of a letter was actually a focused rebuttal of anything.

In general, we are likely to end up where I thought we'd end up - with one huge unanswered question. Salazar has androgel in his posession at all times, He knows, from testing it on his own son (I was shocked he admitted to that, can that possibly be legal for a doctor to agree to?) that rubbing into an athlete won't result in a positive test. Did he ever rub that into Galen himself?
I think the weakest/weirdest part of his response is how he takes interviews and blog posts from Magness and Goucher when they left the project and compares that to their statements now and acts like that's a big smoking gun.
Salazar himself is the one who in many ways brought this whole investigation onto himself because of similar statements.
Using that line of thinking, Salazar has said, "None of our athletes are on any sports-specific supplement other than beta alanine, which is an amino acid. Other than that, it’s iron, vitamin D and that’s it. You don’t really need anything else.”
His whole response admits that's not true as he says they are/have been on Tribex, Alpha Male, and at times ZMA.
Lots of good stuff from Alberto. Magness, KG,and in particular AG got some well deserved bloody noses. Hitting Magness below the belt wasn't necessary though.
But I still don't buy the story that he carried Androgel all over the country for his own use. He experimented with the testosterone limits on his sons and he regularly massaged Galen himself. That's way to suspicious. Alberto doesn't address this most important allegation in his rebuttal. I want to see some solid evidence that the gel was for him only. Until that, I regard him as a cheater and Galen a doper.
In track and field, cycling and swimming, I feel there is no gray area in terms of what's fair and ethical. It's black or white; you're a druggie or you're not. It's as simple as that. Some people are in a dark gray area. Say 50 is the threshold for illegality: They're going to do everything in their means to be at 49.999. They're always trying to find something new to give their athletes an edge. They called it innovation; I called it cheating

What strikes me was how similar it all sounds to Balco. Athletes and trainers would send blood samples to Victor Conte and inevitably be diagnosed as having low zinc and magnesium. He'd send them (legal) ZMA as far as the public was concerned. Then they'd get "the cream" and and "the clear" behind closed doors. Here it's Aegis Labs instead. I don't know if anything is happening under the table, but it looks suspicious.

He still didn't give a reason for hiding what is claimed to be allergy meds in a book. Why did he do that? Why not just ship it like a normal person would?

It's clear he has a prescription for Androgel for personal use that is directed to be applied regularly. He even mentions in an email how much he applies to himself. Why wouldn't he carry it around the country when he's traveling? The pharmacy indicates it is being filled at a rate consistent with his personal prescribed dosage.
For me, the fact that he's a crazy man actually makes me believe his paranoia might lead him to conduct the test on his sons.
Not all reason for suspicion is gone, but he does at least have a reasonable argument backed with some facts. The facts are at least as plausible as his accusers are.
It is obvious Alberto isn't dumb. As you can see in the past 5-10yrs with the way he has handled the legalities of USATF, WADA, and USADA.
For a lot of the private enterprises of the world, you don't write down or email anything that you would like to "keep under the table". Somewhere through the cloud, keyloggers, etc, that information is recorded. If you want to communicate with someone about that kind of information, you meet them in person, or you give them a call.
It is amazing the amount of digital items that will hold up in the court of law. And any wise person, understands what these items are and will avoid them.
