It is a race, not a time trial, and Fischer is a racer, not a time-trialist type of runner (e.g., one with a very good kick). The race went out tactically and then blew up in the last part. Judging relative placing across races when someone has forged a 10-second lead over the last kilometer is not highly a informative; if gives you some idea, but you can't just go he beat A by x and B by y, so A beats B by y-x seconds.

The course was soft and muddy in spots. It was in better shape than yesterday but certainly was not fast by any means.

But it was a great race and Geant looked and ran very well. Any discussion of athletes winning - that weren't even at the event - is unfair and unreasonable for those that raced.

Congrats to Grant for an impressive win.

Skinn...Grant dropped a bunch of very talented runners that last K and made it look effortlessly. Man, I was impressed! You guys got to be proud of what happened today...

None of them broke 15 on the FL course.

I helped work on course all night. It was mud, and slog in a lot of places. People went down in sections of mud. Green ground was like running on a very soaked down golf fairway. We knew times were gonna be slower. They did not have hard solid surface anywhere really, except crossing streets.

Gotta hand it to Dressel. Once the pace was stiffening, Armstrong made an inside move and put John down. It would have been easy to roll over and blame the fall. instead he quickly gathered himself and was back in the hunt. The adrenaline and pace at that point makes it extremely hard to be fully back in the game but mega props for giving it a solid effort.

I hate tactical races but even Hunter said the race was fast--the first mile was 4:42--so the course was just pretty soggy. Also, Fisher is not a jogger. He can run 4:02 with a 57 last lap.

AND FOR THE LAST TIME, WHY DO PEOPLE IGNORE THE NAMES OF THESE HIGH SCHOOLERS!

FISHER is not "Fischer"

CONNER Mantz is not "Connor"

Austin TAMAGNO is not "Tamango"

The pace slowed considerably after the mile, the lead pace bunched up, and even the announcers commented that it was growing in size.

This had nothing to do with the course, but simply that the pace was too slow.
