Adidas Adizero Pro replacement?!? (with replies from adidas)

Well I was more or less on the fence for the Sen 3 after seeing a 25% off offer on the Adidas website, but reading the comment above just sealed the deal ;-) Too bad I got a couple of AB2 pairs for future use earlier this year...well I suppose I can always use them over time !

Glad you decided to take the plunge:) I'm sure you'll have no regrets.

But, I find, also good to rotate shoes so am sure you're AB2 x 2 new are more than very worthy part of the portfolio and will serve you well. Infact I've just purchased a new pair of AB2 with this intention.

Have you purchased or about to? If you're about to it's worth noting the new colourway that was released 1 June = black/white/solar red. These are available @ ProDirect and Start Fitness now and on the Adidas webiste any day now; I've been on the phone badgering the Adidas.co.uk Cust Sv regarding availability and although they checked with their Product Mgmt Team were still awaiting an answer on Friday just gone. Here's a link to ProDirect. And yes I'm going to get a pair of these too when Adi have them in stock.

Yep, had just pulled the trigger when I posted. I know some people didn't like the original black colourway but it looks good to me on pictures.

The new one is certainly "flashier" while "old school" at the same time with the very visible white stripes ! I doubt Adidas will be offering a 25% on it though like on the original version.

Can't wait to give them a try !

Currently I rotate the GB6 (also got a few extra pairs...) for easy/long runs and the AB2 for TPace/IPace/Races (10k/HM) so I can see the Sen 3 going into the IPace/10k "slot"...we shall see !

PS - your reply was fast, do you get notified by email of new posts ? Couldn't find an option for that so I just bookmarked this thread (and others) and check them when I think of it...

Re black on black agree. I have these (and are the ones I'm using, the amazon purple/white I have are tucked away). Initially I was uncertain about the look but they are great. The only change I've made is to put the spare pair of solar red laces I got with the Ren Night Flash into the Sen, so I have black/black/solar red Sen = v smart. Fyi, black/black Sen do not come with any spare/change laces.

S3B are so good I'm going to end up with 3 pairs! That will (and must from a financial point of view) keep me going for some time:). How did you get the 25% discount? Was it on the adidas.co.uk website itself or via a voucher code? I know the adidas uk 1/2-year sale starts on Monday 15/6 but Sen won't be in that, at least not initially.

Strange the REN should come with spare laces and not the SEN !

Yes, certainly inconsistent re laces. Amazon purple Sen came with additional amazon purple laces but I imagine that Adi intentionally did not include additional solar red laces with black/black Sen as they knew black/white/solar red were in the pipe line and black/black/solar red combo is too close to the new colourway. Btw I think they are still calling this new line (B22891) black/white/raw ochre but raw ochre is a yellow/mustard colour and that description is wrong.

The Takumi Sen 3 came in today and I did a quick 50' road run with them at varying speeds, including some sprints in the end. The good news is that they indeed appear to be all they are cracked up to be, very light (only 200g in US12 vs 268g for the AB2), very responsive, very cushy in the forefoot thanks to the Boost insert, wider toebox than the AB2 and very grippy when you pick up the pace.

The bad news is that it looks like they are going to wear out very quickly. Even with less than 10k the "pods" on the outside of the show (I supinate a bit) are completely worn out, as in "gone"/"erased" ! Unlike the similar "pods" in the middle of the AB2 that are pretty much intact after 200+ miles. Can you look at the soles of yours to see if there is anything similar ?

Thus is exactly why I say you have to take reviews with a pinch of salt (at least a tiny pinch!) and try the shoes yourself...everyone in unique and whilst we can generalise about suitability for a particular user/purpose you gotta get them on your feet and run.

I too supinate a tad, esp left foot, but S3B (and S2 for that matter) wear very well compared to others. E.g I've covered appx 60 miles in Ren 3B and the wear is already signifcant and much much more pronounced than on S3B (similar distance covered) but the soles on Sen and Ren are of course diff with less Continental rubber and more Quickstrike (the 'pods') material on Sen.

It's a pain I know as the shoes are not cheap but 1. I guess you've got to expect less durability from flats/racing shoes as they will, by definition, be constructed of less and lighter material and 2. even on a pair of a year old AB2 with hundreds of miles on them and huge wear going all the way through the Boost material on the left foot at the rear quarter, they still perform more than adequately, i.e. the wear plateaus out and does not necessarily render the shoes unusable.

I've run appx 60 miles this week (4 runs) in Adidas Prime Olympics (electricity/black=sweet:)), AB2, S3B and R3B and I have to say S3B are my favs. I now have the Black/White/Solar Red pair, received yesterday from Start Fitness in the UK (thank you guys for looking after me with a great disc). Have now spotted these beauties...will I be able to resist (adidas.co.uk please please stock them) ?

Thanks for the replies, odd indeed about the different wear patterns even though we seem to have the same footstrike (more supination on the left for me too). I suppose the 4x sprints at the end of my short outing may have taken their toll...I'll take some pictures later and post them.

Here are the pics where you can see the "pods" completely wiped out on the side after a 10k run. The REN has some Continental rubber in that area so it might wear out less...

I can completley understand your concern!

Mine are not like this. Yes notable ware after 50m at the rear of the left shoe but, after 1 run, yours shouldn't be like this, even if you did hammer them a bit. It might be worth discussing this with Adidas Cust Service. I know you bought the shoes through adidas.fr but my experience of dealing with the adidas.uk Cust Service team (now based in Poland, prev Holland) is excellent. They ALWAYS do everything, within reason, to help.

I won't go into specifics here but they have helped me on a couple of occassions. I am a pernickety/demanding so and so but they are always polite, efficient and effective and offer truly excellent service.

If you get a chance I'd be interested in seeing pics of your left S3B and R3B as I'm thinking the extra continental rubber on the R3B might be more efficient than the pods, at least in my case.

Yes will upload some pics when I get the chance. Fyi my experience is that iro durability the continental rubber on Ren (and Sen) does not perform any better than the Quickstrike material. But it may well be that, taking the shoes as a whole, Ren will do a better job for you than Sen.

Sportsshoes.com have many sizes of night flash/solar red @ £71.95 and Running Warehouse Europe have the latest Black/Grey (which are really lovely and come with spare solar red laces) @ £86 + 10% off, so appx £77, with voucher code RUNBLOG10. Great deal with 36% off for shoes not even officially launched by Adi (this will be 1 July which is why no latest Sen/Ren on the Adidas websites unitil next Wed). I know about the latter as, you guessed it, I now own a pair.

? I think I prefer the original R3B Euro Colorways, at least on "paper".

Maybe the Continental rubber on the R3B isn't as thick as on the AB2 but I've found it to wear "ok" on my AB2s, certainly a lot less quickly than the "Quickstrike" on the S3B.

some odd product descriptions are arising at the moment on and off the adidas website...just look at the running products on adi.co.uk (am sure same on .fr); t-shirts described as back-pack, shorts as socks etcetc.

The new R3B are silver grey/black + solar red logos (and spare sol red laces). Really lovely in the flesh. The prodirect running website has some decent images:
