Since the video's not been posted, and it would have been had he done anything the slightest at fault, I think it is safe to say that she backed into him at the last minute and he had no chance at all to do anything about it, other than putting out his hand to try and prevent an even more serious collision, which apparently was successful. They are both fortunate that he was able to divert the collision.

I am "the woman" who was shoved by Blair Cullen. I am also the woman who remembers a great race with my friends Charles and Dan. I am also the woman that asked for nothing to happen to this man when both Toughman and USAT race organizers asked me for a statement this week not just based on these photos, but also based on several spectators that told them about the story (none of whom I knew).

After several emails and phone calls this week by both Toughman and USAT, I decided to take the high road and asked them to please let this go and not do anything. That doesn't mean I don't think he was wrong -- a bruise and scratch on the left side of my back were there to prove he was. I just see him exactly the way I see most egocentric individuals who view life through their singular lens of narcissism. Despite that, it doesn't mean I wanted him to suffer. I teach my kids that two wrongs don't make a right, and that forgiveness and compassion are much better choices than vindication and retribution. That is how I truly feel and I don't even drive a prius with an Obama sticker on it! I was simply aiming for maturity, empathy (even for ), and a desire to remember what, for me, was an incredibly fun and enjoyable race.

I intentionally asked both the Toughman committee and the USAT committee NOT to penalize him too severely. I told them that I was indeed in the wrong backing into the finishing lane having crossed the line to kiss my family and friends who drove up to see me, as well as get my watch from my husband who then took a photo. However we were nowhere near the finishing chute and indeed there were several feet around us with not a single other person in either lane. According to the Commissioner of the USAT and most of the normal people who compete in these races, stopping to high five a friend, kiss a family member or take a photo are par for the course. The normal people are what keep these races alive. It's also standard to use your voice (not your body) to someone in your way and say "get out of my way." Apparently this is the 3rd time in 27 years that a man has touched a woman's body in order to complete a triathlon race. Not surprisingly, the first two times (both of which were over 10 years ago) garnered sincere apologies from the runner admitting a poor decision "in the moment."

I told the committees this past week that I forgave his actions, choosing to believe that sometimes people make decisions in a harried moment. I believed that since a rewind button is not possible he must have, in his narcissistic goal to achieve some piece of hardware, simply made a mistake.

His unapologetic letter back to Toughman after learning he was disqualified only showed the USAT that his ego is more important that being human. I wasn't even looking for an apology but it would have been nice to receive one, Here is my apology: Blair (or "anonymous"), I am sorry I backpeddled into your lane as I kissed my family and got back into the race. I do these races for very different reasons than you do, and according the USAT, I am with the majority. I asked the USAT not to mandate what they will - and then they actually asked me why I had to be "so nice" and "so forgiving". I clearly moved on but this sadly won't go away. At the end of the day, one little word would have solved this problem.

She probably saw Mr. Cullen waddling along toward her at 7:40 pace and didn't even realize that he was participating in the race. Seriously, a decent male high school cross country runner would be running faster during a warm-up jog, and aside from facial expressions, there would be no real clues that while the high schooler jogging at 7:20 pace can easily get around you and keep the situation the non-event that it is, Mr. Cullen is so wildly out of control while running at a slightly slower pace that a collision is inevitable.

So it's good to see she admits some fault. But she sure does talk like she is just awesome and justified in her actions. That's kind of....not accepting any responsibility for her own actions. It;s rather pathetic how she feels so open calling him names. Her comments in general are flat out text book narcissism.

What it proves is Brian Cullen is a loser douche , and the photo of his facial expression as he exerts all his might to generate power walking speed is funny.

While you may be 100% accurate in that assessment. That doesn't change that this girl is coming across as just a big a douche. But getting a free pass because of her T and A.

What I have learned from reading this thread.

Folks form pretty hard opinions without all the facts (at the beginning it was just from picture). Explains more or less america right now really.

Apparently women are fragile delicate creatures and are held to a completely different standard than men. If this was two dudes, entirely different discourse. equality for sexes, i don't think so.

Doing volunteer work entitles one to special treatment and even more sympathy. I mean imagine that douche didn't even slow down and she is special...

Running weenies have no idea how a hard 2.5 hour bike ride @22mph (which is quite respectable) takes just a wee bit out of ones legs.

Serious triathletes do seem pretty douche like.

SHE is the one who caused the bruising, by backing into the guy while he was participating in a race. She is lucky she didn't back into a car on the freeway, oh to enjoy herself and have her photo taken on the freeway.

So she wants the guy to apologize to her, for her backing into him and getting bruised in the process?????

It sounds to me that the guy didn't do anything, and tried to avoid her but was unable to because she kept backing into him and it was too late to do anything except try to avert a serious collision, which he did!

Based on the facts shown thus far, there is no reason at all that he should have been disqualified, and I've not seen anything that he's said of what happened.

Let's just all agree that any guy who would shove any women out of the way to place second in their age group in a triathlon is a complete douche.

Seems too harsh that he was DQ'd. He did have a good result that he was entitled to.

I think the woman sounds OK in her statement, but I don't like the part about "only the third time in 27 years that a guy has touched a woman's body..."

When participating in any race where both competitive and recreational athletes are involved, both types of athletes must be aware of their actions.

She should have been very aware that he also runs races for different reasons than hers and when people compete, mostly it is against themselves, they push their limits and get lost at the end of the race in their focus to better themselves and finish strong.

Recreational runners tend to think everyone is out there to have fun and smile throughout the whole race because it is fun. I understand the waving and wanting to high five or embrace the family,but they also must take into consideration the fact that other athletes are out there on the course hoping they have a perfect day.

As a competitive athlete, I too have been cut off by recreational runners and I have tried my best to avoid them but also I have run into or shoved a few out of my way. I keep my eyes on these runners, but when they seem to be set and not moving and I commit to running right by them, but not always do they know I am coming and quickly shift directions and I must react appropriately to keep from falling.

If you say you are at fault, sh!t, then you are at fault for crossing to the opposite side of your route, or backing into a running with the right of way (runner finishing or on the correct side of the course) and take full blame without expecting an apology.

If you believe he saw you and you tried to avoid him also, then maybe it is expected for both to apologize to each other. But, we still have no video of exactly what happened.

For now, as you said, you are at fault and that should be the end. If I impede an athlete for any reason and I get run over, sh!t, I got run over and I blame myself and hope te other person did not get hurt.

The only evidence is that she backed into him. There is no evidence that he "shoved her out of the way", but that she backed into a runner moving at full speed and caused the impact herself.

If she had jumped in front of a car on the freeway she would say the car "shoved her out of the way." Ridiculous.
