DADDY CAN STILL KICK - Lagat OBLITERATES Rupp

Can someone tally up the scoreboard for us. It's probably something around 23-2 in favor of Lagat, right? He did get his 2nd loss to Rupp this year with a DNF.

I don't know how anyone can even suggest Lagat doesn't obliterate Rupp in 5000 at this point. He could have beat him in the Moscow 10,000 as well.

No he couldn't. Lagat is a 1500 guy who moved up to 5k when he lost a bit of speed due to age. His ideal distance now is probably close to 3k. Additionally, Lagat does less mileage than most elites, which works well for him, but means that he would have a hard time moving further up. On the other hand, 10k is Rupp's best event. He has proven that he is top 5 in the world at that distance, and he is capable of getting a medal under the right circumstances. Lagat is clearly better than Rupp at 5k, but he couldn't hang at 10k.

Um, they raced head-to-head in the 5000, and Lagat finished ahead of Rupp.

I don't know what the post-race workout was though, and there could have been a cuboid issue.
