What country are your favorite country to visit for a vacation/leisure traveles?

One last time...sure you can book a boat tour FROM the Galapagos, doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure that one out. But how are you going to get to the Galapagos? Is that a little more difficult for you to figure out? And once you get there....are you going to tour one island or a half dozen islands? Where are you going to sleep (the Ecuadoran police don't put up with your backpacking sheeet on this). In the end, if you book your $1K tour FROM the island you are wasting your money and are getting ripped off. I said in my earlier post that I have a friend who works at the Institute...he clued me into that a long time ago.

1k tour? Maybe your 400-500 dollar tour (yeah, you can get them that cheap) if you're unlucky. Though you can certainly find reports of happy customers who paid something similar to that for their boat tour.

It's funny to hear you attempt to talk about "wasting money" and getting ripped off, especially when there are any number of blogs and accounts you can read on the websites I listed earlier of people doing exactly as I've said and having a splendid time.

GEnericId, I appreciate the suggestion but think he has been called out enough already. When you called him out, he just went into a little name-calling tirade. My suspicion is that he is an early 20's young man, who has some geographic knowledge and a desire to travel, but no resources, so he spends his time trolling message boards with fantasies. I did pick up on how he ignores responding when he gets called on things.

Let me ask you a serious question, is it required to depart from the mainland due to limited permit issues? When I was looking into it, that seemed to be the case. Going back to our "friend", I don't think he has yet figured out how he's going to get to the Island, which of course he would have to do in order to book his fantasy tour FROM the island (San Juan, I believe).

i'm going with barcelona on this one. really though, spain in general. barca is cheap, has beaches, temperate climate, AWESOME track literally on the beach (can hear waves on the backstretch), highly cultural, phenomenalwine, and stunning women....

While I have no knowledge of I know that often tours actually cost less if booked direct from the tour operator instead of a middle man. If the OP is saying you'll save $ by booking from a company from the area of your tour instead of bundling the components thru a travel agency or an all-inclusive tour company.

Take two seconds to google and you will see how you you can book from Puerto Aroya. You should have just stuck to your initial statement about the brain surgeon instead of following that other troll deeper into the sewers of trolling ignorance, but you haven't been too good at discernment throughout this thread so it's really no surprise.

Short and relatively inexpensive flight to Cancun and enough interesting things there to keep me occupied for a good two weeks without ever having to travel more than a couple of hours away. Plus the food and drinks and beaches are hard to beat!
