It appears a consensus has been reached. If you're slow and dorky, wear your shorts over your tights. If you're at all fast or serious, tights only.

Wrong. That is not correct. Try again.

I agree, but I'd also add "insecure" for those who wear shorts over tights.

Seconded. One of the better subtle-troll threads in a while. Kudos to the OP.
Thank you, thank you. I'm honestly shocked this got to 9 pages. I should try this more often.

In all honesty does it really matter how you dress for running? I don't give a crap about how some stranger judges me as I run along the road, whether or not they're a redneck or a fellow runner. Personally, I'll wear tights when running and then put shorts over them when I go inside and talk with friends or a coach. I'd just feel less comfortable without the shorts on, especially around my friends that play baseball/football/etc and don't really understand the whole running tights without shorts thing. But if I'm outside running the roads I'm not about to judge someone wearing shorts over their running tights or not wearing running shorts over them. It. Does. Not. Matter. There's more to a person than how they feel comfortable with the clothing they run in. I mean it's rather wasteful to get angry over such an insignificant thing, you're almost all adults, I hope you'd get past the whole "judge a book by its cover" thing. I'm 17 and it appears I've realized that more than the rest of you.
You contradicted yourself.
This is a topic of discussion that my girlfriends and I have had a few times. Unless you are a sprinter or perhaps an 800 runner, most men look really bad in tights. The sprinters generally wear the half tights and look great. The distance runners often look girly in tights because of their scrawny legs - kind of strange. However, most male distance runners aren't exactly girl magnets anyway, so probably don't care what the women think.
Just watching the Goonies and there is a great shorts over sweat pants outfit near the beginning. now that's a look!
sorry for the double post.
See, tights are for girls!!! And no one wants to see guys in them, like Flanders.
mmmmmmm....flanders
So let's just end this by saying it is kind of effeminate for guys to wear tights without shorts at least knee length. You're welcome.
Nope
I decided to test out my theory tonight: I wore boxer briefs under my tights. Everything stayed in place, and there was no uncomfortable feeling of my dick being clearly outlined down my leg. A+, would wear again.
So where do male capri tights fit into all of this?

Lol. I bet some of the guys who have been advocating wearing tights and nothing else go running around in capris. Like I said, it's an effeminate trend.

Lets end this thread with some logic and opinion based on observation.
(1) Most nonrunners who see male runners running in tights think they look either effeminate or just goofy.
I think you meant to write: Most nonrunners who see male runners think they look either effeminate or just goofy.
