Is there a process for injured people to transfer their entries? Holiday packages? Competitive entries (sub 2:30)? Charity entries for people overseas?

She has a visual disability (note the asterisk next to her name). I'm using the usual "Boston minus 5" formula for her. All visually impaired runners have a BQ of 5:00, so hers is 4:55.

I asked our website guy to add the explanation of the asterisk, but apparently he did not. Thanks for the heads up on that.

The qualifying standards are a bit odd.

A typical 54 year old man is supposed to be faster than a typical open woman. I wonder how the age graded tables find that to be true.

The BAA should say the qualifying times people have run since the window to qualify for 2012 are still valid until say January 1,2011. After January 1, 2012, the qualifying times are going to be readjusted to and then list the new qualifying standards.

They should make that announcment as soon as possible.

Easy ways to make the qualifications "tighter" in a very logical way:

1. Drop the women's qualifiers by at least five minutes per group. The women's world record is 15 minutes slower than the men's world record, but the qualifying time is THIRTY minutes slower? That doesn't add up very well. So hack five minutes off all the women's qualifying times. That will STILL make the times favored towards women.

2. Get rid of the spots for charity runners. Or at least chop them significantly. This is a race, not a charity event. You can't charity your way into the World Series or Olympic Trials.

3. Add 5000 runners. There is definitely room.

4. Allow people who have run times like sub-2:40 (men) or sub 3:00 (women) register a day early. That way they have no excuse for not being registered, and the field will be faster.
