Yes but the Western guys did it in a much much much tougher region.
North Central Region has the following ranked teams:
#1 Western
#2 Adams
#6 Minnesota St. Mankato
#9 Colorado Mines
#15 New Mexico Highlands
#18 Metro State
#20 Minnesota-Dulth
Great Lakes Region has the following ranked teams:
#4 GVSU
#12 Wayne St.
#14 Southern Indiana
#21 Ashland
I think its clear who is better, you can't compared place without also comparing the difficulty of the region.
Western placed in those positions (3,4,6,9) while going up against 3 other teams that are in the Top 10 and 6 other ranked teams. And Western was able to win through all of this while resting Hogarth.
GVSU (We all know what that stands form, a part of the female anatomy) placed in those positions (1,3,4,5,7) while going up against ZERO, yep ZERO top 10 teams and only 3 other ranked teams.
GVSU can continue to dream and continue to hope that they can compete but realistically they should stop lying to themselves.
If ACU, Adams, and Western run up to their potential GVSU will do no better than 4th. Of course if some of them run very average then it is possible for them to sneak past them.
