Must have been a tough course! Looks like only a handful of runners finished outside of the Johnnies!!

all that matters is October 27th at Como Park and we'll find out then who is best.
Rankings and times mean nothing, everybody's just trying to get themselves ready for the big meet.
This is almost as stupid as going to the other extreme and saying that the conference results are predetermined by early season races. Of course times matter right now. No one is going to be a 33 minute 8k runner in September and go on to win nationals. Granted, teams have a lot of room for improvement over the course of the season, but there also must be some sort of continuity between how someone is running right now and how he will finish the season. God you people are morons.
Until your last sentence, which was condescending and sweeping and unnecessary, you had a nice post going.
Does anyone know if Carleton will be running their full squad?

Carleton was going to run their whole squad, but most of them fell off a cliff in a bus yesterday.

case in point
Hard to argue with you on that one.
pretty fast winning time. as far as miac finishers, looks about where I expected. didnt expect much from hamline, so not too surprising. bethel beating all the miac schools today? never thought id see the day. too bad carleton didnt run their full squad.
and the number five runner for La Crosse is.......
Losing O'Grady to La Crosse is a blow to St. Thomas for sure.
Greeno had a great race, but at a smaller meet like Conference Champs, Bethel's #4 & 5 guys will have to move up to keep them ahead. Aside from Bethel's top 3, MIAC runners didn't run brilliantly nor badly.
St. Olaf look fine, with a promising group of freshmen.
Macalester look like they're about on track, with Eckstrom moving from #4 to #1 spot. Burns, their #2 from last meet didn't run which cost them at least 30 points.
Hamline is suffering from the loss of Gleason and Murphy. Are they out for the whole season? If so, they'll be an underdog for the first time in a while.
However, I think between all the teams above and St. Thomas, MIAC 3rd place looks pretty wide open. They all have some fast runners, but it's too early to tell if anyone will improve enough to challenge Carleton in October, and make it to Nationals.
What happened to Steinbrecher?
what do you mean? i thought he ran alright, nothing special, but not bad. has anyone else noticed that the only race he seems to run really well at is conference. it just doesnt seem to fit. i guess the hamline guys are only a couple miles away from como though, probably get some good practice on the course.
That is kind of strange, but that's a pretty good one to run well at if you have to pick just one.
I was looking forward to seeing #5 ranked St. John's attempt to take down #3 La Crosse, but instead it was battle of the JV teams (La Crosse 7th, St. John's 11th).
Wartburg, Macalester, St. Thomas, St. Olaf and Bethel did field full teams, and were 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 8th. Wartburg did well, except there's a 60 second gap between their #4 and 5 runners. Macalester had a great meet with a tight pack, only a 22 second spread between #1 (Burns, who sat out the last meet) and #5. They had a different guy heading the pack in each of their three meets. St. Thomas was close behind by one point. Greeno of Bethel sat this one out, but even if he won, they would have still placed 6th behind St. Olaf.
sorry, that was not lax's "jv's". it was their "c" team, as per last year.
Good to see some close MIAC finishes at B-G, just wish they had all been ahead of Wartburg instead of behind...What MIAC team's are doing the Griak?
Also, does anyone from Olaf have insight into how Thornton and the team didn't get Matt Yak to run cross?? The kid was 10th in CC last year, 8th in the 3200, and is a sub soccer player for them!
throughout the recruiting process matt expressed that soccer was something that he wanted to pursue. even though he was recruited by a number of decent to very good midwest schools for running, he wanted to play soccer. go figure.
Maybe Mr. Yak wanted to enjoy college and do what he wants, as opposed to what a pack never-was's desires
there is always track.
