Whats the biggest variable that has changed in running...It's the shoes that do it to them. It puts too much pressure on the achilles and calves. The older shoes had much more flexibility so you could do more miles.
I thought socialist healthcare was the best in the world. Why would someone leave the superior Norwegian system to get healthcare in the US?
Why in the world do you need to bring that sh*t up you idiot? Maybe it’s just because (sample set of) ONE guy which happens to be best at it is here, and which would have absolutely NOTHING to do with the OVERALL quality, affordability, and availability of health care in a national system. Dumba**.
Because 5k is intensive enough to stress and injure achilles again.
Being woken up for about 10min multiple times per night every night for months very much affects recovery. You underestimate babies and underestimate importance of sleep. Not getting enough sleep chronically even shortens your lifespan.
The 5000m being 2.5 seconds per lap faster is more stressful to the point of creating a higher chance of injuries? It’s also half the distance.
He can sleep in an extra hour in the morning, or take naps during the day, to get as much total sleep as he wants.
Bro, I recommend you dive a little deeper into this.
1) 2.5s per lap is a huge difference in tempo at that level.
2) No amounts of naps during the day can replace uninterrupted 7-8 hours of sleep. There are different phases of sleep (Deep, REM and Core) and it is crucial that they follow in correct order and uninterrupted. Naps are purely supplemental.
This is so important for your regeneration that I would even say that if you can't sleep like this absolute majority of the time, might as well quit or pause your training, as the chances of becoming (or staying) an elite athlete become slimmer with each week of improper sleeping schedule.
This 100% played a role in Jakobs injury and recovery. A small baby in the household is not compatible with training for a WR.
God forbid people are hopeful that a great athlete can return to full health. The idiots celebrating this injury are the ones who have probably never touched a track in their lives. No one with any real time in this sport wishes injury on another runner.
You dweebs totally don't go into every distance thread and spam comments about how Jakob would've easily won "X" race if he wasn't injured, sick, not peaked, etc.
Flying all the way from Norway to take advantage of the best healthcare with the best facilities, medical tech, and most highly trained doctors in the world without having to wait 18 months to see some no name socialist doctor. #usa#

So how did having a baby stop Faith Kipyegon from breaking world records? An infant is not an Achilles injury.

That's not what happened. Jakob simply can afford the most experienced / popular in the world and it happens to be in the US.
There is a different level of confidence in a team of specialists who have succesfully done it 1000 times vs someone with 50 times under the belt. Although the skills of the specialists and the procedure might be on the same level.

It took her a year after giving birth to come back to elite sports. With a set back in the following year and getting in WR shape two years later. It also takes 9-12 months for an average baby to start sleeping through the night.

Seriously. I don’t understand the weird emphasis on his child’s sleep. Kids start sleeping through the night relatively quickly. This is a non-issue.
Sounds like a podiatrist. Just imagine being a professional athlete, training your entire life to be that good, flying across the world to the US where there are some of the finest surgeons in the world only to get operated on by a person that couldn’t get into med school.

Did he get it repaired by a podiatrist or a doctor of medicine?
Foot and ankle surgeons are MD (or DO) doctors who have completed orthopedic surgery residency training, and then completed specialized fellowship training in foot and ankle surgery. They are not podiatrists.

Don't be an idiot. Regardless of what you think of his degree, for decades Saxena has treated and performed surgery on a huge number of pro runners. Off the top of my head, Jakob, Shalane, Centro, Ritz, Paula Radcliffe, ESP, Shannon Rowbury. It's literally dozens. Even Rojo.
When one doctor has a lot of experience and a record of success treating an elite group like that, it's not at all surprising that others would want to seek him out. Why take a chance with a different doctor.

She chose to take the break, she wasn't recovering from an injury. And her best came later. But for all the world firsts Ingebrigtsen has achieved giving birth isn't one of them. The only thing that will stop him returning to the sport at his previous level is his injury.
I would add that Roger Federer had two sets of twins. It didn't impede his career. He continued to play at the top level and his kids later came to see him play.
