I'm from the UK so this is all very alien to me but it seems absolutely insane that anyone can be arguing that the shooting can in anyway be justified as a response to her using the vehicle as a deadly weapon. She 100% hits him and I'd be all for her being punished for reckless driving and she's clearly creating a problem by being there in the first place. BUT the contact is fairly minimal and at low speed, in no way a risk to the agents life, she's clearly turning away from him and he continues firing after he's moved completely out of the way and she's trying to drive in the opposite direction.
Do I think she's an idiot and put herself into a potentially dangerous situation in a stupid way and then made a bad decision in clipping the guy while trying to drive away, yes. Do I think she ever 'tried to weaponise her vehicle and kill the agent', obviously not. There's nothing there that justifies lethal force and it's mind blowing that people think there is.
Unfortunately, what’s really happening is that politically engaged people are reciting the argument their side supports. Whether among actual politicians or among people I know, I haven’t seen any instance so far where someone on “the left” thinks the shooting was justified or someone on “the right” thinks it was not justified. Both camps are lining up exactly as you’d expect. Trump put out his “I totally watched it, it was justified!” tweet right away to make sure rightists knew what they all think about it, while Gov. Walz and Mayor Frey got their statements out as well to lead the leftist chorus. Whenever any American issue touches on politics, never be shocked at the responses and opinions on it, because quite literally no one is thinking critically about any of it.
