She had nothing left in the tank in the last 1k today when she needed it. When she ran Pre-Nats on the same course, her last 1k was 3:06. Today it was 3:14. She was fried.
Yet, she ran faster overall, indicating the pace was too quick for her, not that she overdid it at Regionals.
Pre-Nats were over a month ago. With proper peaking and conservation of energy at Regionals, runners should be much faster at Natttys than they were at Pre-Nats. Jane barely ran faster today. Too tired from overly exerting herself at Regionals.
Still plenty of time. You really believe running maybe running 30 seconds faster than she had to, at regionals, had anything with how she ran today? It’s not that she stunk it up today and 2nd place as a freshman, is impressive.

10000m and then 5000m, is a very common double at WC and the Olympics, many runners have pulled it off successfully.

Look at your own name. The runners who have won that double have done it by sitting and kicking. They don't hammer the first race from the gun and then expect to be at their best for the second race.

Ok, so your theory is she lost because she ran too hard at regionals. How much do you think Jane would have won by today if she had run 30-40 seconds slower at regionals?

It's impossible to say if Jane would have won today had she run smarter at Regionals, but I am certain she would have run much faster. Doris is great, but she shouldn't be beating Jane by 13.5 seconds. A properly rested and ready Jane would have given Doris more of a fight in that last kilometer.

The 11th fastest steepler of all time shouldn’t be beating a college freshman (from America no less) by more than 13.5 seconds? You’re an idiot!

No, you clearly said she wouldn't win solely because she ran too hard at regionals. You were all in on this statement.

She could have easily finished below 18. Jane and Taylor fked up this one for sure.

Does Jane seem like a typical college freshman to you? What does your comment about America supposed to mean? America has produced many fine runners. Get your America hatred and your discourtesy out of here.

When did I say that? Can you point me to the exact post?

Sure troll. Pretend like you don’t understand. Idiot!

I understand you are emotional because I was proven right, but that is no excuse to not be civil. Find more constructive ways to manage your anger. A good cry might help you.
Well guys it looks like OP was right. The true freshman seems to have gone too hard at regionals, which is probably the only reason she totally booked at nationals and got a hugely disappointing second place. What incredible foresight.

Second to one of the fittest female distance runners in the world, no less. Massive disappointment!

At least you have the decency to admit I was right. I'll accept that as your apology.

Jane gave everything she had today. She just didn't have everything she had to give because she ran so hard at Regionals. Typical freshman mistake. She'll hopefully learn from it.
