If people don't want to be cured, they will do anything to avoid eating a decent amount (the interview mentions the former anorexic would be weights in her clothing to weigh more). Joan Ifland PhD, the author of the textbook, "Processed Food Addiction" calls anorexia nervosa an addiction to not eating. Anorexics get addicted to the dopamine & serotonin that hits their brain when they deprive themselves of food, which is an evolutionary adaptation. The brain is kind. If you are starving to death, the brain will be flooded with serotonin and dopamine - in order to get you to your next food destination (if that makes sense). The brain thinks that you're in a famine.
